I keep thinking that if we can get a rangefinder made, one that lets us know distance based on mask size when viewed through some fins...something like these curved lines

and then mounted a certain distance from your eyeball like this sight mount connects to a rail, but probably not so far away, maybe under a scope

a quick analog rangefinder that can be mounted on the side of scope/red dot, or maybe even barrel mounted.

Then maybe a little red dot with a reticle like this could even be used at typical scope ranges

Amen to that! I am going to buy a rail extrusion and have it cut down and drilled to fit. I have just about given up trying to buy one that will fit. I have asked Ty about a brass rail but he seems a bit busy this time of year so that may have to wait. If anyone is interested in a rail 7.5 inches long drilled to match the top of the SR1 let me know by the end of the day tomorrow. I will buy enough extrusion to do all of them and have my local machine shop drill them to match. I was going to have all 6 holes drilled and counterbored for 10-32 socket head cap screws Probably just going to go with raw aluminum.

This is the rail I will order on Tuesday (length to be determined by number of people wanting one of these.)

I am hoping to have total cost under $25 each if I do 4 or more of these.

This is not a preorder just a chance to get one if you are interested. I am not doing this for a profit just trying to help anyone out who needs it.

Drop me a PM if you want to be on the list.

These are the ones i bought for my rifle.

I will be making some as soon as we get some spare time.

I didn't have a clue this would be an issue. I bought some cheap rails off ebay just to get my rifle going. They fit so there was not an issue.

We decided to put a lot of holes for mounting and now nothing seems to fit.

We found no specific information on hole placement.

Thanks for that information! I may order those to get me through the year until Ty gets some free time.

I have found everyone has a hole placement for the item they sell the rails for but there certainly is no standard. Most of the attempts to find spacing information was met with "I don't know the spacing but it fits this handguard"

At least with the 1 inch on centers it is easy to do drawings for my local machine shop.

Notice how the one inch on center pattern does not align evenly with every rail slot?

The picatinny rail slots are .394 on center

.394 x 3 = 1.182 + .394 = 1.576

Another issue is blocking the slots with high profile hex heads

If the hardware mounts to high, it prevents a mount from engaging at that point.

Just added the link for my posting. This is a higher profile rail that should allow room for the socket heads to be recessed enough to provide clearance.

I think I have that exact rail and it bolts up fine.

Got a little birthday cash and decided to do my SR-1 justice.

I went with the 4x reflex scope combo and Meopix iPhone adaptor. If the Meopix doesn't quit fit I will use spacer of PVC cut to proper eye relief and drill and mount it as pictured here.

I should be plinking by weeks end and report back with results.
