| Rec Poster Join Date: Sep 2006 | My latest side-tube... Here are some pics of my latest side-tube. ![]() ![]() I made this from the gun purchased from phantom rocker 9289 (many thanks for the decent gun at a very reasonable price!). So far I've done the side-tube conversion, tapped the stock bolt in 8/32" and added the adjustment screw to stop the incessant ball breaks, added anti-rollout detents and made the front sight for it. I still have to make the rear sight yet and then line them up for accuracy. All I have to test fire the thing with is the $#!tty Impact paint that is micro-bore small. Still, even with that it shoots ok. To do the fine tuning with it though I'll have to pick up some decent paint. I also have a trigger job planned for this, nothing too light just crisp it up a little. I was thinking about picking up some Duracoat for this one, I may do that instead of using the Brass Black. The Brass Black works, actually gives it a "antique" look, but it does eventually wear thin. I still have a little clean-up work to do long before I put any sort of finish on it. I sort of like the pebble grips, but I find myself longing to put the old stock grips back on it - I rather prefer them I think. Anyway, just thought I'd share a pic of the latest side-tube born into this world. 6 |

| Rec Poster Join Date: Sep 2006 | Thanks for the comments gents. I'm getting better at making these things now, got 5 hours labor in on this one and I'm refining my soldering techniques so that the lines are much smoother than my initial guns with less cleanup later. I still am doing all the work by hand with hacksaw, files, dremel. Like anything else, the more time you spend doing something the better you get. Thanks for the offer of the grips Drum - I would be very interested in them, thank you very much for offering them. Thanks again for the comments. 6 |
