i completely forgot about this thread and these discussions. This same idea just came up with a customer. he wants 8-9in inserts and barrels bored to match. I am now better tooled to take on such a task.

Should have an update in the next month or so. (we are days away from a baby so mama doesnt let me play as much)
stay tuned.

I was actually using a 3 step bore barrel... One step was an Alpha434 Inception back. The second was a barrel I bored and the third was the original barrel's bore.

The multiple freaks seems to work well, provided you remember to use a "small" bore freak in the first section and a larger one in the second section.

I had a 40 fps increase with my sniper when I changed from the bored barrel with a .675 freak to a two step bore that was .675, then .680

makes sense. its like running a tight bore full length, or full length minus porting section.

Basically, yes... The big advantage is you can tightbore the first section and then have the bore loosen up as the air pressure diminishes. Seems to add quite a bit of efficiency to *some* markers. This same setup on other markers did not do as well.

Understanding everyone's mileage will vary, which markers liked the 3 step bore and which did not?

All of the low pressure markers showed no improvement. On the other hand snipers and nelsons showed the most improvement.

I have noticed similar results in snipers. I think it's caused by exesive dwell and wasted gas.

That sounds very plausible to me.
