How much to be #10 on the pre-production list? I'd be a tester for you if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg...

I would *like* my next big purchase (after tuition and a bike) to be a machine to put an old Dell to use on.
The X3 is one of the larger desktop mills produced by a company in china called Sieg. They are distributed through Harbor freight, Grizzley and probably a dozen other companies. They are of the sqaure column variety and make awesome CNC conversions.

Legion has the "turn key" Syil X3 sold here:

The Super X3 CNC mill an Affordable Bench top for Small business from Syil America

My plans are to buy the X3 from Griz:

G0619 6" x 21" Mill / Drill

And put a CNC conversion kit on it that is sold here:

CNC Fusion

Should be slightly cheaper than the Syil variant...but will require a ton more work to prep and get functional. It'll need a controler and some software also(which I believe the Syil comes with).

Sorry to hyjack your thread Legion but talking mills makes my pants tight.

Ouch. Bit out of my price range. And I so want a CNC sometime, too...

Ah well. College and transport ($500 for a '85 or '89 Suzuki GS550, or '83 GS650. Dunno exactly yet) first. Oggling now.

First off Legion, I congratulate your efforts, and I look forward to your success.
Secondly, I understand the reasons for divulging us from too much eye candy. But couldn't you at least describe the differences between your Nelson clone, as apposed to rest?
You did put some emphasis on the word performance, which implies that there's more then just looks, and function planned for the "Mamba".
But other then the convertible feed neck, it does sound pretty much straight forward so far.
Considering that building the perfect Nelson has been a common quest for some time now, I can see the challenges that lei ahead.
Innovation will be the icing for your cake though.
If you've whipped some up already... Could you at least give us a little taste?

OK ok, Ill get some parts posted here shortly. Sorry i have spent the weekend balling with some friends and had an sppl last weekend (that we won).

Today i played with several different pumps i own...A phantom, a razorback, a spartan, A sniper, A sterling, and then a few games with my stroker. For me I find that the sterlings and snipers are still my faves? Why cause they are more solid than the traditional nelson. I would like to make a nelson based pump with that rock solid feel and function.

For me the key elements that will enhance performance,...
a. Cocker barrel threads.
b. Hpa designed valve assembly
c. Aluminum milled body(not extruded or cast)
d. Delrin bolt (New Design for todays brittle paint)
e. A extreme attention to tunning detail during assembly
f. High grade components (cp regs and feednecks)
g. All aluminum grip frame
h. All aluminum sites

I am planning on having a mock up done here pretty quick. Maybe ill post a full body today. Im working im working i promise. I do appreciate the input guys thanks.. More thanone good idea have come from u guys.
