| semi-auto phantom i was thinking of putting a soleniod on the pum grip or arm of a phantom to recock it after each shot if you connected a micro switch behind the trigger to activate the solenoid when the triger is depressed letting the pump arm move forward and firing the gun when the trigger is released the solenoid woul push the arm back recocking the gun. just a thought of something i will try whn i get the money i have most of the parts lying around anyways. so what i was looking for was opinions about the idea. i figure that it wouldn't ad much weight and a phantom is light as it is, so it would make a good small accurate sidearm of some sort. willpost pics of the design when i finish them

| I don't think you'll find a solenoid with enough throw to cover the distance needed to recock. At least not one that's small enough for it to be practical. It'd be easier, I think, to do with pneumatics ..

| Not to mention you'd need a frigging car battery to run it! Lol...

| Yes, it can be done using beefy solenoids that have a 1" throw. But they take a massive amount of current. And will quickly overheat in that application. Still would be neat to see. Use the lightest main spring you can find, combined with a heavy hammer. That will minimize the current draw on the solenoid.

| I would put a pin or something to release the sear once it got to a certain point, that way all it is is the microswitch.

| There was quite a little push a few years back, with everyone trying to come up with a semi conversion for a phantom. IIRC none of them really worked all that well. I believe the nelson valve design limited rate of fire to less than 8bps. So, aside from the acomplishment of just doing it, making it an electro would be kind of a moot point. The one punisher did, was limited by the valve design to the point the he didn't bother pushing it past the rough prototype stage. and I don't think the red one Q built proformed that well, or at the very least was enough of a pain to accomplish that he said he would never do another one

| Rec Poster | Blake's Paintball Site << Pun's E-Phantom, link's in the eft toolbar I've actually been working on designing a rail, which would contain a tripper pin similar to a rainmaker, and would be tapped for cocker or bushmaster frames. You could then use a rainmaker ram like pun's design, and a cocker frame w/3 way or a rainmaker solenoid, t board, and bushy frame for electro. As for bolt/body modding, a member here on mcb who does phuzzard conversions could certainly slot one side of your body and tap the bolt for you. Beyond that it'd be a bolt-on affair. If I made a run of 10 conversion rails would they sell? And if so how much can I sell them for? As for nelsons only cycling 8bps, I'm gonna have to call BS, just look at the rainmaker. |
