What to do with my ASA?

I've got an old B2K with a VA that only likes to fit certain ASA threads, eg; it will fit the reg it came with and a remote line adapter that I have, but it won't fit my newer Empire regulator.
At first I thought it was a problem with the threads of the VA because the threads on the regulator it came with looked worn, but then I tried my remote line adapter and that worked fine without damaging the threads. The reason the Empire reg won't fit is because the top (right above where the o-ring sits) is a larger diameter (probably not by much) than the id of the port on the VA.

So what I'm wondering is if any of you had anything like this happen to you, and what did you do to fix it? Suggestions welcome.

someone paid no attention to the ASA threading standards... not surprising really.

I wonder if I should try to sand the OD of my reg head down.

Yeah IMO its better not to **** with airtanks unless you're an airsmith or tech. Its worth the money to know that pressure is on your gun right.

This isn't a tank reg. It's an Empire branded reg that's internally the same as a CP shorty. I wouldn't ever mess with a tank reg. The ASA is an old ICD va adapter. I don't want to sand any thing if I don't have to. I may just have to post a WTB on ICDO for a new VA.

AKA Fan
^ That's a good plan.

The other option is to have a machinist rebore the ASA... Should take about an hour, ask an airsmith for rates.

I got hold of a caliper today. The point my reg won't go past is .687. The reg head that fits is .685. The reg head that doesn't fit is .692. < That's the problem. I may try to use some 1,000 grit sand paper to diameter down. I should be okay as far as o-rings go because it's regular tank o-rings. Might just have to do that.

I sanded it down and it fits and seals. Yay! Thanks for the input.
