I vote assimilate as well> Too much knowledge on there to lose.... I work in IT and I know for a fact the data can be exported via Read Only files, then uploaded elsewhere. Just a thought...

The cost is ridiculous. For $600 a month you should enough support to have that site fixed.
Doesn't make any sense to me when I pay $50 a year for unlimited EVERYTHING. Plus, they keep a 5 day backup if something goes wrong besides my backups.
They pay $9 a month for the domain from moniker.com and they pay $99 for hosting from delaware.net. So what is he paying that much for?? It is not like he is running his own server in his basement. He obviously pays for hosting.
This is easy to find with whois and tracert. Is hey paying some one to rebuild the site?
In modern war... you will die like a dog for no good reason.

By all the comments against mags it seems that maybe out member base isn't as old as I thought. I wont bother with the technological advances since then, or the popularity of gun x stuff. It was what it was. Unless you lived it you won't understand anyway.
Just because basic shared hosting can be had for $10 a month now doesn't mean it was 5 or 10 years ago. It also doesn't mean that shared hosting would run what the server AO is on is running...you're assuming, just as many on AO did that AO is the only thing on it. It's not.
Assimilation isn't likely IMHO. Adding the forum to this one data wise may be possible but suspect its not. Either way it still costs money. Someone needs to actually do the work and the other sites on that server need a home if AO moves and the server is retired.

I may be new here, but I'm not new to the sport.

Ridin' The ShortBus
I was running a torrent site (which I no longer do cause that's bad m'kay) with 30K Members, thousands and thousands or torrents, our forums had an extremely active community, and our costs in comparison to AO were nothing. We had seven servers running, 5000GB data transfer on EACH one of them each month....something doesn't add up to the cost.
You can go on a much cheaper server now-a-days
So I vote Assimilate....please Mr. Kaye.

Guys go to AO and make your thoughts made.
Keep in mind that Tom has kept the site running on his own dime, even after stepping away from paintball. So if you are a mag lover, or just dont want the online presence of AO leaving the web, then please just go post that you support it. If you want to suggest adding them to MCB, then ask Carter to contact Tom and see if it can be done between them.
