The stars on the automag valve are for warranty work. For each star, you can send the gun in once to have it worked on.

The older (classic) valves didn't have stars by the way. They were sold with a "lifetime" warranty which they no longer honor, so there was no need for stars.

"newer" classic valves have one star, minimag valves have four.

Anyone know anything about 'Rental Valves'? That's what my Mag has.

I would guess they were made for the large number of mags that were built as rental guns. probably designed to take a beating.

Rentals had a smaller passage behind the power tube tip. It helps keep the gun from shooting over 300fps. Drill it out for a bit of performance increase, then you can use LX on it too. What kind of problems are you having?

from what i understand the stars only cover soft parts (orings seals not really hard parts like a whole bolt)

also from what ive been told the X-valves have 2 unmarked stars.

its not a noob question, its an honest question
