Increasingly in the process industry we're seeing shortened pipe lengths being used with a flow conditioning insert to force the flow into a set pattern. I've been curious if conditioning between the bolt and the feed would improve consistency, but I don't know enough about actual launch conditions to know if it would make things better or worse. Plus it'd either need to be attached to the bolt or the bolt wouldn't be able to push the paintball forward before firing.

The venturi bolt design is similar to some flow straighteners. While they may straighten flow, they should still cause some additional flow loss. You could make a cocker bolt with a vortab layout inside, that might be interesting.

No, that moody diagram is pretty interesting. At a typical paintball reynolds number is right around 10E5

a 6 micron finish puts you on about the 2E-4 curve.

So, a bad finish would actually push things into the complete turbulence region. And a smoother pipe MAY incrementally improve the air turbulence in the barrel. Now, in most circumstances I don't think this will matter....but occasionally it could.

I think this explains some really interesting results I've seen on prototype barrels for the next generation eigenbarrel.

Please expound upon what information you can/are willing to give us. I am most interested in new information, especially based on prototypes the public doesn't have access to, yet

Ok. I'm necroing this because I sent my flexhone through the mail on my own dime to Tymcneer 2 months ago.
Not one word of one single ball fired anywhere? By anybody?
Nothing?

Or, after a few more weeks of silence are we going to read on PBN about Cockerpunk and bryces' new discovery that improves paintball accuracy by a secret process only available through their TyHone Barrels(Patent Pending)?

The paintball in the barrel is simply pipe flow with an accelerating randomly variable internal restriction, what's complicated about that???

AgentSmith. I have finally been able to afford the next batch of barrel tube. When I get over this round of sick and injured, I will be in the shop making barrels. Doing some testing at the local shop, and then the barrels will be out for loan.

If that's the way you want to do it I'm good with that Ty, but you'll feel kind of silly that you waited. You don't own a barrel that won't shoot better after a dozen strokes.
As Biteweasel said, the difference is not something that can only be detected through testing-it's immediately obvious even to the naked eye.

In any case I look forward to hearing your reaction!!!

Will do Menace!

I waited, only because I was out of barrel tube, and money was too tight to allow me to order more. Having to make a minimum order makes it kinda expensive...

I am in work today, but feeling worse by the minute. Did the chest xray the doc wanted... Next is the EKG. Maybe some drugs to clear my lungs, and I will be back in business.
