I've seen ash on guitars and I haven't seen "spotting" like that in the wood. although it kinda resembles "swamp ash" (in guitar lumber lingo I guess)

If it's from shipyards, the humidity coulda given it that nice color

Is it some sort of oak? o.O oak's pretty common, but it still looks real pretty. Known to be pretty hard but porous too (takes on the shipyard humidity pretty well, swells up a bit thats how you get that nice fat round shape unless you cut off a bunch of it before making the stock )
