Paintballs in space

I'm a space geek and have been watching these weather ballon into space vids on youtube and am thinking of doing one myself. I found this one today, which involves some paintballs. I don't know why they thought they needed the annoying alarm, most I watch don't have that. I get that it's for finding the thing after it lands but its irritating in the video. Turn the sound down though and this is cool.

Apologies if this was posted elsewhere...

Lol that looks like one of the old all star paintballs from 12 or 13 years ago. The yellow one with the stars on it. I haven't thought about those in years.

Awww, just the balls? I was hoping they'd send a remote marker up there for a little testing. Imagine the efficiency you could get, squeezing that extra 14psi out of a tank in thin atmosphere... and reduced atmosphere should mean less resistance and turbulence, meaning better accuracy and distance, right?

Okay, this post started out as a joke, but the more I typed the more my inner-nerd came alive. We need willing astronauts to play paintball on their next spacewalk.

The balls didnt even make it halfway to the kharman line... not space.

But... paintballs fired in micro gravity and a hard vaccum would be very interesting with no drag, and no drop,

Id expect arrow straight shots that never slow down until they hit something.
Id expect them to break on a hit at any range, as they would essentially be going muzzle velocity until acted upon by an outside force...
Provided they could stay intact in a hard vaccum... which would be a tall order if the balls were manufactured on earth at one atmosphere pressure.

If fired inside a pressurized cabin in micro gravity, since there is a breathable atmosphere. I assume you'd still have aerodynamic drag and the effects on accuracy and velocity that it has... just no drop, so eventually the'll just slow down and float.
Inversely, if paintball were played on the moon, you'd have drop, but no drag.

CQB in the ISS anyone?

but then they would have to play magfed or with a qloader, as no gravity hopper or mechanised hopper would feed paintballs into the gun...

also it would propel the paintballer backwards with every shot... uncontrollable spin from ramping! we have a new meaning for "space guns" lol

Those are actually Draxxus Frostbite paintballs, which are yellow with green snowflakes.

Also, old All Star? I have some in my refrigerator that were manufactured on August 6th :P
