Wildside paintball in Michigan

Whatever became of Wildside paintball in Michigan? JD from there built a few custom Autocockers for me, and I just wondered what became of them.

Where at in Michigan are they? I'm near Grand Rapids and I've never heard of the place.

Some Google searching shows it was in Eastpointe, north of Detroit. I've also never heard of it, but I too am on the other side of the state.

I found a nice write up on Ravi's page about the guns: Wildside’s custom Wildfire Autococker

No, we didn't work there but J.D. was a teammate and we spent a lot of time there.
He built some excellent Autocockers.
The store went the way of all of the others in Michigan. It has to be over a decade now.

I'm very sorry to hear that. If you ever talk with JD, please wish him well for me, and thank him for the beautiful work that he did!

since i started playing and stopped, i know of at least 4 stores that closed, two with a field.

empty hopper - reed city, played there in 03-04
Mayhem Sportz - walker, played there in 06 -07
alpine paintball - comstock park? it was north of 7 mile on alpine
M&M/ fantasy paintball - closed before mayhem opened

i haven't played in like 5 years, there have probably been more that have come and gone in the west michigan area.

Skife, there was Trigger Happy in the Bangor/South Haven area. I don't know how long they were open, but they closed shortly after I got into the sport. There were several in the Kalamazoo area that closed down. Ballbusters was the most recent to open for a short time then close. There was also Victory in Benton Harbor. Got-ya in Niles closed down and then reopened as Total Control. I have no idea if they are still around. There was Sand Ridge out in the Bridgman area as well, but they closed down a couple years after I got into the sport.

About the only commercially ran field in Berrien, Van Burren, and Kalamazoo Counties that I know is still operating is Hole In The Wall Paintball in Bangor. They did have a store in Kalamazoo, but when the economy tanked business really slowed down. With business declining and rent going up they had no choice but to close the store. Fortunately the field is still in business even though things have really slowed down since closing the store.
