what to do with a KP-3??

So I have this kp-3
http://www.mcarterbrown.com/gallery/...medium/KP3.jpg

I have two issues:

* It is currently shooting WAY too hot (330-370 fps)

* There is yet another field that I want to play at that is not allowing co2

My question is...

Do I keep it AS IS as this IS a KP-3 (pretty decent condition might I add) and just cut the main spring and just have it handy for show at fields that don't allow co2?

Or do I sent it to Palmers and have them convert it to a pump Hurricane?

Now I know it would be "worth more" if Palmers and Company upgrade this to the Hurc specs but I really, REALLY love the look and feel of the Old School KP.

Which is exactly the reason why I have not converted this (or ANY of my older pumps) yet.

Fewer and Fewer pristine condition KP-3's exist as it is now... Do I risk losing yet another KP to conversion?

I'm afraid if I just buy another KP-3, I will come up with the same excuse NOT to convert it to a Hurc... (I won't mention how many kp's I DO have currently... ;) )

Suggestions?
Anyone?

That is a clean one!!!!.... Since it has the newer style trigger group, why not just drill and tap a velocity adjuster , it's flat and should go easy... Plan B ... Main springs are still easy to get, order a couple and trim to various lengths...

Palmer's is never a bad idea with KP's, but this one is soo clean....

edit .. Fields are stopping CO2??? woooo.... there's goes stock class fun....

I would keep it as it is. You can always change out the springs and get a small compressed air tank that will fit in your cradle.

Why would a field not allow co2?

I was wondering the same.

The KP-3's have a choke style velocity adjuster in the bolt.

Remove the bolt and there should be a hex adjuster in the front of it.

NOTE: You MUST remove the bolt to adjust. Do not do it with the bolt still in the gun.

Don't touch the gun. If it was already hacked I'd say go for it, but not for something as original as that gun. You would be doing the future of mankind a disservice and bad karma will befall you.

So what field doesn't allow CO2?!? That's Anti-America. That like not allowing a Model T to be driven on the road because it doesn't have seat belts. Tell me the name of the field so I can send them a complimentary communist flag (c;

I'm kind of puzzled by that as well. CO2 fills are actually a pretty good source of income for the fields around here, since it's so cheap to buy in bulk.

If I were you, I'd keep it as a kp-3, and get a small HPA tank like the ones from Wevo Paintball.
Check them out here: http://www.wevopaintball.com/3000psitanks.html

Wow, never heard of fields banning co2. That sucks.

As for what to do with the KP. I dunno, I don't think I could own as many KP's as you do (it sounds like you have quite a few) and not send at least one of them off to Palmer's for a Hurricane conversion. ;) But I guess if you want to be a purist about it, you could always just pick up a stock and trigger group and send them in for a scratch-built Hurc.

Personally, I wouldn't have any problems with "defacing" a classic for a Hurc conversion. But that's just me. :D

Yep, there's your velocity problem's answer. As for the gas source, get a 13ci tank and you're set.
