I went to a two day scenario last weekend on short notice. The insoles of my boots were worn out and I kept getting deep blisters in the last few games. Rather than risking the complete break in of some new boots, I bought some Dr. Scholl's sport insoles. After two days in 100+ weather and a lot of walking (some running ) I didn't have a single blister.I wasn't "gellin'", but they did good.

I gotta say I like them too...I wear them in cheap boots to make them more comfortable, and when I spend a lot of time on a concrete floor.

"Buy cheap and mod" is a state of mind, I guess.

The ones I have are from sporting goods stores. For me, the "gel" type insoles seem to last the longest and give me the most comfort. I used to think they'd trap moisture (STINKY!) in my shoes, but I guess I have enough shoes to rotate among them and it hasn't been a problem at all. |

I find the "work" versions do much better support and cushion wise than the "sport" versions. I also find that anything with memory foam just means it flattens to rock hard where your feet touch down enough to the ground.

stay away from the gel insoles. I found them to be totally terrible in every way. foam is way better.

Just in case people aren't doing this and since I just found out a friend was only going to bring a pair of socks for a scenario weekend! People! Bring several pairs of socks and change them out throughout the day, your feet will thank you! Even if you only bring three pairs and swap them out every hour and rotate them (wear swap air dry etc etc) it'll make a world of difference. It'll cut down on blisters, foot itch and overall foot wear and tear. Just ask any prior service member who's humped around the world, they'll agree.
