Part 2 of our 50 caliber paintball tests... Results of drop test: .50 caliber - 8 foot drop - 95% break .50 caliber - 7 foot drop - 95% bounce Shell thickness = .013 - .010 50 caliber weight = 1.21 grams so our FPE = .0213 .68 caliber - 7 foot drop - 95% break .68 caliber - 6 foot drop - 50% break Shell thickness = .013 - .011 68 caliber weight = 3.2 grams so our FPE = .042 Charting the FPE, up to 90 feet, the .50 caliber should break. Beyond that is it most likely to bounce. Up to 120 feet, the .68 caliber is sure break. Beyond that, the 68 can start to bounce. That's a 30 foot increase in breaking distance / range that the .68 has over the .50 Using the data, we are able to come up with this chart Chart: ![]() AND, our real world testing confirms this chart to be fairly accurate. .

Yeah, thanks, fixed it. Meant, 7 and then 6 feet. I just got back from a b-day party for my kid so I tried to look nice and stuff. Forgot I was still wearing it.

Oh, and we dropped the paint on a 3/8 thick piece of steel, so no complaints from anyone about bounces!

| I Am The Admin | We said roughly 300 FPS, but actually we were shooting 310 just to cover our butts on the break vs bounce end.

Facinating. My very first thought was back in the days when you had entire SMG-60 teams. At first they seemed unstopable until we realized we could outrange them, and outbreak them. That became the standard anti-SMG tactic making them obsolete. Now we can use the exact same tactic when we face entire teams of .50 players. Sure, they might be able to carry twice as much ammo, and get twice as many shots. But we will just stand 100 feet away and pick them off!
