Diablo Pump

Hello everyone. I'm new here. I was told you guys could help me out with a question; and I really hope this is the right place.

I have an old Diablo pump I got for cheap, and It needs a new powertube and cupseal. I know most Nelsons are interchangeable, but I just want to make sure if a Phantom tube/cupseal combo or a Taso combo from ASP would work. And also, what size should I get (I think they come in sizes)? I use a 9oz, not those 12g's.

Also, I have no idea what the barrel threads are or anything like that, but would it be possible for me to use those Phantom ring detent things (can't remember what they are called)?

Thank you all very much!!

I have no idea what barrel threads they are, but thinking back to my old Diablo pumpgun my guess would be no, you can't use the Phantom ring detents (just a guess though, I no longer have mine). Many older pumpguns didn't have a detent system from the factory.

I remember seeing a Diablo pump that looked very much like a traccer and I wonder if they are the same internally. Can you take pictures of or try to describe the internals for us.

Quick question: is the powertube integrated with the hammer?

Diablo Pumps-

Diablo- has the normal pump handle with a very large in diameter barrel. The one I had was black dust in color. All the Diablo’s I’ve had had adjustable bolts and adjustable triggers. They are breech drop so don’t change parts with bore drops (Phantoms) or some other breech drops without spacers or different valve pieces (Maverick style bolts/valves don’t mix well either).

Diablo Deluxe-smaller diameter barrel with a cocking handle system like the Phantom (under barrel with a rod instead of over barrel with arms). Gloss black old school anno (it will fade to a dark purple or brown shade of black with lots of exposure and use in the sun).

Both barrels are the same thread as a semi auto that is no longer made and wasn’t popular either (Master something?), nothing else matches.

The feed elbows do screw out very nicely which would make them adaptable for offset right SC modifications.

The frame assembly is painted and with a little difficulty and hard work can be stripped and polishes up nicely.

When I get on my home computer I will try to find pictures I have of the different valves.

Going by the description, I have the Deluxe model, with the undercocking pump.

Also, my feedtube isn't threaded (I think that's what you're saying?)

I'll get pics up in a few

Trust me, it's threaded. If it's not then it will be the first one I've seen that wasn't. I have had one Diablo and four Deluxe bodies go through my hands and they were all threaded.

Remove the guts from the body. Grab the top of the neck with a strap wrench and twist, lefty loosy. The trim ring should stay in place until the rest of the neck is removed.

You have to be careful threading it back in because the neck is cut out for the bolt to slide past the feedneck in the body (clear as mud?).

A guy on E-bay has a stainless steel J&J Diablo barrel for sale (3 left) but you better move quick. I think he has sold one every year since I was looking. LOL

I think the semi I was looking for with the same threads is a PEC Master, not very common and the J&J barrel is the only aftermarket one I've heard of.

Some random Diablo pics, some comparing pieces to Maverick bits.

Oooh... I like the polished frame. And I guess it is threaded, but I'm not gonna mess with it. Lol.

Mine has the brass hammer, and the valve top thing (I'm pretty bad with terminology sometimes, ha ha) is round, not hex. Any clue where I could get a powertube and cup seal that would work with this gun?

And thanks a ton for your help, SKX. I'll probably be picking up a barrel soon.

Somebody may have already replaced the power tube once and had to replace the retainer with another nelson one. In order to mount the Phantom dropout I had to use an AutoMag spacer from a rebuild kit betweent the hammer and powertube so there are differences. Just to let you know, there can be differences in part tolerances between Diablo's as well. I don't think QC was too good on the assembly line. You're smart to just leave it as stock as possible. They are fine that way.

I don't have any power tubes but I do still have the SC body and bits and pieces of barrels, pumps and parts for a regular Diablo laying around. I think I have a trigger frame assembly too.

I always use the CCI webpage picture for Nelson pump part nomenclature.

I don't plan on messing with it. I just really need a new powertube and cupseal. The powertube it came with snapped inside the cupseal somehow and both are trash. So If I ever want to get this sucker up and running, I need those parts.

Otherwise, I'm adding a .45 frame and that's about it.
