Why are the manufacturers making the 50cal?

If the 50cal is so hated by our community than why are the manufacturers producing this old/new line up? What is it that they know or have heard that has convinced them to go this new route?

50 cal is being produced in hopes that all the players whom currently own enough 68 cal markers for a lifetime will have new lusts for a 'new' generation of 'higher performing' markers.

In other words: Its a business decision.

its a risk taken by a business before consulting marketing to find out if it even has a market
which idc if "smart"parts wrecks their business i will laugh at them. Now kingman just jumped on a nonexistent bandwagon hopefully it doesnt hurt them much

There isn't really much they can do to improve the current .68 technology. They're trying to hype and market it like it was a transition that's set in stone; one that would make .68 equipment obsolete. So they could sell new guns to everyone.. that no-one really needs.

But isn't this thread a bit

Multiple companies somehow have come to the conclusion that 50cal might be a new future.

I think they are going off of more than a hunch.

IMO it's because the paintball industry believes that most of the community is like a flock of sheep who are willing to shell out $1500 bucks every year or two for a new marker with virtually no improvements. The manufacturers think that they'll make loads of money by forcing a change in the industry that we will follow without question.

In short, it's a case of the tail wagging the dog.
