DRV Work. Trying to get it to stop leaking so much.

It's not that it's horribly bad or anything. Right where the power tube protrudes out the back. Even after shooting it down, it's will sometimes just leak there the whole time.

Is there anyway to get this to seal a bit better. So that after a couple shots I won't hear the faint hiss.

I thought I remember reading about someone doing this.

Note: I had it for a while and had experienced the hiss before doing this. The detent stuck too much for my sake and the power tube didn't move perfectly free, so I recently polished it a bit and it started moving wondrously smooth now.

if your valve cap face has an oring in it you can remove it, clean it and put it back in with the black/blue bottle of loctite instant adhesive. make sure the face of the seal stays clean of glue. press the oring and valve cap together so that the oring stays flat.

It has probably developed a small gap underneath. Or you have a nick in the oring. Or you have a first gen and the set screw in the top is cranked in tight cocking the valve cap.

lube the oring on the front of the powertube.

It should be second gen. Serial #111.

I replaced the O-ring with one in the kit of the same size. Th original was a clear type of material. The replacement was a black o-ring. Don't know if that's important.

Would making a delrin insert work or has that already been done?

Well there is your problem..... you can't use a buna oring on the valve face. Buna absorbs co2 under pressure. when you release the pressure it expands by 2-300%. IE it won't be stuck any more, hell its likely not even in the groove any more at that point. I'm surprised you only have a small leak and not a great big whoosh.

The original face seals were delrin. Pain in the arse to get them to seal at all. too long a span in the valve to get proper alignement of the power tube face and bore all at the same time.

I'm not sure the oring that was in there was buna, But that seems to be the only one's I have to replace it.

I only asked about the delrin as a long-term solution.

Thats because the ones in the kit were the valve cap outer orings ( buna). same size different material. likely to get chopped up when removing and reinstalling the valve.

the face seal is urethane because it doesn't swell.

So I'll need a urethane o-ring in what size then?

I'm having a Crap-tastic time trying to find a supplier in the US of A.

EDIT: Sorry, No one responded to my original search, so I had to go us ZDS to get the exact ID and OD. Found 10. They are on their way.

Just to truly finish off the thread, I got the DRV working perfectly again. It was most likely the seal, but everything has been replaced. I actually had to mount the brass valve part on a makeshift lathe setup with a drill and open up the channel and deepen it a bit. Then I smoothed everything back down. There was for some reason, some friction with the washer against the powertube so I had to sand that down. Now the powertube moves a lot more smoothly.

I was able to get a slightly weaker spring for the detent and it made a huge difference with the hammer pull. It's buttery smooth.
