| Newbie Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Clover | Better? 09 GEO or 2010 EGO
I have played paintball for 13 years, but have always used cheaper guns such as tippmann 98, a-5, spyders, Ions, G3's, Autocockers, etc... I am captain of a team and feel it is time to upgrade. I want to get an EGO or GEO, but not sure which would be best for woodsball and some speedball. I have never bought a high-end gun so although I have played a long time am a newb to which would be best for my type of play. Any advice? Help? Thanks in advance

Since you are comparing 09 Geo to 10 Ego, I would pick the 10 ego. Know that the EGO has much more kick but is more efficient. The GEO is smooth but it horrible on gas usage. If you need to shoot like 8 pods in a game, you are not going to get it with the GEO

The GEO has available the GR-2 & GST upgrades, many may already have had them added by the owner. They make them a better shooter, but still not quite as nice as the GEO2. The used GEOs are pretty cheap but... used EGO 10s are still demanding around $750-900 as far as I can tell. I've seen used GEO2s go in that same price range, so if you are looking at getting an EGO 10, why not look for a GEO2? Just a thought.

To be honest I would get the Ego10. Super easy maintence, super-reliable, fairly efficent, and nice shooters to boot. The geo does have a slightly smoother shot but in all honestly if the extra barrel rise shooting a poppit throws off your aim, you might want to go to nerf guns instead. The geo will not get near as many pods off a fill as the ego will. I have shot several(and been shot by) ego10s and they are my favorite ego I have shot so far! But maybe if you can get a geo2 at a good price that would be a good option too.

I'm going to go against the tide here and say Geo but with that said find both markers and shoot them. Most of the team I run on shoot Egos, my daughters included, but I just can't seem to get comfortable with one. The Geo on the other hand suits me almost perfectly. Try both and decide for yourself.

Thanks everyone for the advice and pointers. I was looking at prices and guns on trade my gun, thats why I picked those. I have always heard the EGOs were well worth the money, and knew little bout the GEO other than it was their version of a spool valve.

Also if you're looking to save yourself some cash, I would say have a look at the Dangerous Power Fusion FX. Incredible features for the price point and when tuned right more efficient than an Ego 10.

Geo with the upgrades. Spoolie, super flat shooting, GOOD on air, single stack tube, eeeeasy to point/aim/shoot. Super light, nicely refined. You can pull out the bolt and lube it in about 1 minute. Easy to understand, easy to look after. This is probably the peak of semi technology. |
