Empire Sniper, pump handle binding

After tearing down for a full cleaning, I"m now running into the issue of having my pump arm bind on the back end of the stroke.

Anybody know what I did wrong?

It goes away if I loosen the pump to backplate bolts, but then the pump handle is wobbly.

You have to be careful how you torque them down. The bolts need to be slowly brought to tight alternating between the different sides. Turn a little on the left then right. If that doesn't work you may need to try and adjust the bolts after being tightened by igniting out how it is binding and tryin to squeeze or seperate them until it goes away.

Per Kee:

Quote:
The binding is caused by the pump handle. Either two things happened;

1) When it was made air bubbles formed inside causing an uneven surface..

2) The other reason is that there is a crack on the inside of the pump handle. This is caused due to the screw holes being too small.

Either way you will need a new pump handle. However we will not have any until later this month. You can drill it out just a bit to make it work.

Typically where you'll get binding is if the lengths of the pump rods, as dictated by how far each is screwed in to the bolt sled, are different.

can be finicky to get them in there correctly.

That's what it was. Looks like I may have gouged the inside of my pump handle a bit too, but Spider! helped me get that honed out. All is better now.
