Prototype Wooden Pump Handles

I am going to be spending a lot of time in the wood-shop throughout the winter. One of my main focuses is going to be practicing making wooden pump handles so that I will be ready to start selling them in the spring/early winter depending on how good I get. I want to get as much practice as I can and will be starting with Under-Cocking handles solely to begin as they are a lot easier. I am hoping to work up to any type of pump handle by spring. I will be charging based on the root price of wood; no profit, no labour charge.

eg. You would like a maple pump handle that is 4" long. A 3' piece of maple that I am able to use (turning blanks) with proper dimensions could cost around $30(as an example price). That's $30 for 36" so 83 cents an inch. Pump handle would cost around 3 or 4 dollars.

I feel that's fair for I am not new to turning, just pump handles. Let me now If any of y'all are interested! I'll post a pic as soon as I am done the first prototype!

I might be interested in seeing how a 6'' or so UC phantom pump handle
would turn out. I think they would be slightly heavy though, especially
a bigger pump handle like I would want.

There are very light woods, maple and African walnut are what I have at the moment which are both a heavier wood. But I wouldn't say that they'd be all that much heavier than delrin or teflon. I'll run one tomorrow and see how it feels.
