Storing nose down I 10 round tubes is the best. I have found that if I want to use First Strikes I need to buy them almost a month before the game and store them in 10 round tubes.

Rushed it once, bought a case, loaded them up and went out to play. I had a huge spread pattern. Gave up 1/2 way though the case. Same rounds 3 months later won me the sniper competition at my local field.

Blue? I thought first strikes only came in whiteish grey.

The blue filled first strikes have always been the ones to leak a little bit or leave a blue oily residue in the tube. I have never had an issue with the white or purple filled ones.

I've had leakers in both colors- one key factor is that they aren't made in as many batches and they may not be applying the same quality controls. It's been awhile since I had my hands on the blue fill but, the white filled boxes I've been getting since the beginning of the year really seem to have improved in quality.

Same here I got 200 fom hustlepb and 200 from rockstar tactical no leakers, size and weight variations very minimal.I have noticed buying fsr's from places that don't do allot of fs buisness they seemed to have the leakers and other issues. This could be because they were old stock that have been around forever.

ill be able to comment further tonight about quality, i have around 200 on the way.

as for the leaking, i have seen at least half of the fs rounds i have stored for any lenght of time leak slightly. usually there is no noticable crack or damage to the rounds. on some, i have seen the front half separating from the fin section, albeit, rarely.

the most common issue i have seen with the previous batches i have used is that the fin sections were out of round. not sure if that was from shipping or just manufacturing.

but all in all, i have had very few failures with first strikes, out of round or leaking. the rounds that leak are fun to fire off though, they leave a vapor trail. makes it very nice to see how far off your shot was, lol.

Is it better to store them tip up or down? I'd imagine the down offers a slightly more forward center of mass, which might offer truer flight, but more problems when loading.

I'm pretty sure the consensus is tip down for the reason you stated... Also, the paint might stay more centered settling into the round tip, for a better balanced spin? (I can only state what I've heard, am still building my rifle so I don't have any practical experience yet)

Tip down as stated first post at the top of this page. Let them sit a few week and you will have a much better flight pattern and better grouping.

Tip down also works because any leaking has always seemed to be at junction with the skirt. Tip down puts that junction at the highest possible point.
