Review of Current & Inexpensive Firing Platforms

Soooo, now that I have some free time I was planning to spend it running ballistic experiments on the FS rounds and rifled barrels. Thing is the only gun I have left capable of firing the FS is the T9 and that apparently does not have any rifled barrels being made for it.

Ergo, daddy needs a new gun and it needs to not break the bank. I've only got $600 left for the test and I'd rather not blow half of it on a new marker - I still have chronos and paint to buy.

The only other thread on this is a a couple years old, and I'd like some less dated suggestions.

Or if someone is game, I'll put up cash collateral through a third party for a a loaner marker.

Cough, cough.

I believe there are rifled barrels out there for the T9.

That said, if you are doing tests, the marker is presumably in a vise or clamp to hold it in a fixed position. That means that you could use any marker with a rifled barrel, and just breach load each round.

There are barrels for the T9.1 but not the T9. Tangus pointed it out when I put up a WTB and I had the Tiberius tech confirm it for me - the barrels for the two iterations arent compatible and neither Lapco nor Hammerhead (the two brands I wanted for testing) makes barrels for the T9.

Could an airsmith, like Super_Stanchy, just mod a rifled barrel to work? I'm just figuring that the barrel + work has to be cheaper than the barrel + a marker.

That is interesting that the batrela for the T9/8s are not interchangeable with the x.1s

EDIT:
These guys CLAIM to have a T9 HammerHead...

Hammerhead appears to have offered rifled barrels for the x.0 series guns back in 2008, before FS rounds came to market however, they wouldn't have the correct breach opening for FS rounds. They appear to have ceased making them several years ago if they even made that many.

The barrel pictured on the 'wearepaintball' site (which I've never heard of) might be one of these early barrels.

There is one rifled barrel that I have for the T9. Milsig makes one. The rifling is not as aggressive as the other barrels though. The website does say T8 /T8.1 but it is made for the T8 / T9.
Here's the webpage: MILSIG MARKSMAN FIRST STRIKE RIFLED BARREL (EXTENDED) FOR T8/T9 [BA-019] - $55.97*CAD : MILSIG Canada, Paintball, Airsoft, Milsim Specialists. Richmond & Vancouver

Here's a link to some pics I took of it compared to a HH on the ACES forum(note that I cut the barrel down so I didn't have a huge barrel sticking out of my T8 so the end of the barrel in my pics is not perfect, I was using the scrap end for pics): A.C.E.S. - Milsig short riffled barrel for T8.1

Lets axe the idea of continuing with the T9 platform, its too restrictive for any serious use. Ill probably go with a cheapo platform like the Spyder M-series. Less than 200 out the door and I'll be able to use hammerhead barrels for my experiments - at least after throwing a decent reg on.

It depends which barrels you wish to compare. As much as I'd like to see your tests conducted on a Tiberius marker(as I own several) I suspect something with cocker threading will give you more barrel options. If you don't mind breach loading individual FSR you could just butcher the feed port on a cheapo sniper.

I currently have an Spyder EMR-5... I am not too happy with it, as it seems to crush quite a few FSR. It also uses a twistlock style barrel.

The one good thing it the magazines are interchangeable with the Hammer 7.
