Jluke: I've been doing 5x5 for about 2 months with very nice results.

Guess I hit a breaking point in the gym again. I'm actually wanting to go on my workout days, going 4 days a week, sometimes 5 if I hit an extra cycle class. Doing my full weight sets with some soreness the next day but nothing compared to that first week. Also hitting three 50 minute cycle classes a week and keeping up just fine.

I'll be switching up to do that 5x5 for a bit and see how it works out for me, it's just hard finding a time to go when the free weight area isn't slap crowded, it's like people hog the bench and squat rack area religously.

FYI: Soreness is a poor indicator of progress. My biceps and traps rarely ever get sore, yet they are probably my two fastest growing muscle groups. Also, it's normal to be sore the first week of a new routine or exercise, but if your eating properly you should be getting much soreness the following weeks once you body has adjust ed to the new routine.

I would recommend focusing on weight/rep progression instead of how sore you feel.

Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is affected by other factors than just how much effort you put in to your workout and the exercises you chose. Nutrition and sleep quality also play huge roles in precieved soreness. And now that I drink BCAA's during my workout it's rare that any of my bodyparts ever get sore, but my body is still progressing.

Well when I mentioned soreness, I meant that initial hit when you first start going after having not gone in months, the kind that makes you not want to go the next day or day after, that soreness is gone, I can go one day then still wake up the next day with no problem and actually want to go.

But ever since the exersize, eating better and drinking a ton more water, I just "feel" better, mentally and physically. It's hard to explain, but my attitude towards everything is just more chilled out, I've calmed down some.....It's like the voices in my head are just talking normally now and not yelling lol

I will admit i seem to be working harder on my weaker areas; shoulders, chest and upper arms, I feel like I can finally start seeing a difference in my shoulders.

has anyone tried doing shoulder presses with the Olympic bar sitting on the ground like you're going to do a T-bar row?

I've never had my shoulders feel so awesome before.
