| Never forget | First (drivable) car
Alright. So I'm 15, about to get my permit, and wanting a car. This isn't what I REALLY want, but you gotta start small. I was looking through the local craigslist, and came across these. I have right at $2000 to spend. Not to bad considering I'm only 15. I like the civic alot more, just because I like civics more than I like accords. Here's links to what I found. I want your opinions about them. If you think I need to keep looking, that's what I'll do.Civic ......cheap..... Accord 1995 Honda Accord Coupe 5 Speed

So did I miss where the price is for the Accord? Assuming it's also under $2k, go with the Accord. 70k fewer miles, actually claims that the AC works (as opposed to 'IDK'), doesn't need TLC. The Civic has probably seen more stoplight racing than the Accord on its way to 200k miles. It's your first car, you want as little to worry about as possible and AC, fenders, and so on should not be a part of the process.

Go to your local library and find a book called "Lemon Aid: Used Car Guide" Make sure you read about the car in there. It has almost every car ever made (within reason) and it will give you the low down on costs of maintenance, problems, price, what years are good what ones are not... I am sure that this book has saved me a lot of money and headaches in the past. |

Looks like that civic has been in a wreck. I'd stay away from it. I personally don't think it's worth anywhere near the $1700 he's asking for it. The Accord is a much better deal if it's in the same price range.

I agree with the above post. Stay away from the civic. It's definitely had some damage to it. He's on crack if he thinks it's worth $1700 in that condition.

Civic looks to be a salvaged title. Accord is the better choice out of the 2, but I would probably look for better options. Personally I hate manuals, can't eat while driving lol jp. It just becomes annoying after a while. The whole "Always learn to drive stick" seems to be an old saying now. |

If the Accord is Under $2,000 thats the one I would suggest for all of the reasons mentioned above. Either way, or if you find something else you like for that matter, take it to a mechanic to have it looked at when you test drive it (yes take if for a spin even if the owner insists on going with you).
