well back to the shark like cage idea... it does work nicely. And I think a sharpened pole/spear would be a great idea. You can get on an elevated location and just aim for the head as they try in vain to grab you.

A sad as it is, I've given this very subject some though. Here's what I would do in order. This is of course assuming it happens on a night/ weekend when the wife is at home.
  1. Learn of Zombie infestation. How? Who knows. Probably from the General Chat section off MCB
  2. Grab Axe while I send wife to grab bag of clothes and chem gear bag
  3. Grab dog and get in car
  4. Drive 1/3 of mile to gun store. Yes, 1/3 of a mile.
  5. Get "supplies"
  6. Proceed directly to base
  7. Then proceed to directly to bomb dump
  8. Enjoy knowing where there are thousands upon thousands upon rounds of various types of ammunition, cases upon cases upon cases of MREs and many thousands of gallons of fuel.
  9. Laugh maniacally at the sound of a 30cal destroying Zombie hordes.

In preparation for said overtaking of humanity, I've been putting some new parts on my fal. New compensator (less then lega...l)+20 rd mag (perhaps also slightly less than legal where I live...)+not horrendous stock+500 rds=a decent chance at survival. But for the life of me I can't decide where I'll hold out. So many options...

One thing I just don't understand though is California's gun laws. What crack head state do I live in where I can own a semi automatic high powered rifle, but I can't own a .22 handgun with a mag capacity of 11 or more?

The Zombie Apocalypse will be sponsored in part by Gerber and Hyundai. So I'll just grab the plentifully placed products across the land as necessary.

I'd probably just stay at work for a while. I mean I do make AR's for a living...just saying. And a fully decked out Machine shop will help with rebuilding society.

1) Buy ramen.
2) Knock out stairs.
3) Chill at home for about a week.

By then, I'll know if the military is coming (I'm fairly close to an AFB), who else is around, and the initial panic and wave of infections will have calmed down. At least to a point of wandering hordes, instead of screaming confusion.

I've got ammo and water and means to make more. All I need is food, and I can amuse myself by dropping a rope and walking outside with a crowbar for a few minutes.

Don't forget your protection, guys! If a bite can convert someone, imagine what aerosol brain matter will do. Leather and denim are your friends, and respirators and goggles are a must.
