Sudden Arrhythmia Death-Get educated, know the symptoms

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUDWUbnlcuY

Some of you may have heard about my medical issues recently. I collapsed in a bike race and then spent 3 months in hospital. Good CPR and some awareness saved my life.

Watch the video, learn CPR, learn to use an AED, and don't ignore symptoms. I was a perfectly healthy person, almost winning a bike race, and if it weren't for CPR I would be dead.

By the way, my tentative diagnosis is Wollf-Parkinson-White syndrome. Just for those who are interested.

This really hits home for me. While not exactly the same, I do personally suffer from occasional bouts of atrial fibrillation with rapid response. It has been a life changer. The risks are high, and bouts can be very scary. Having 220 heart beat that is erratic, while laying down, is very frightful - and the risks of stroke and such are even more frightening.

I am sharing this video asap.

-Thank you for the post.

Maybe look into a pacemaker/ICD. (Implanted Cardioverter Defibrillator)

Mine does both, it cost the government $4k. Totally worth it, it could very well save my life.

If you haven't, at least get an ECG.

It may cost you some time, and maybe some money, but it could also save your life.

This is serious ****.

I'll mention the symptoms to my doc and mention SADS and see what he says. Just what I need, one more way my body is trying to kill me

Ask for an ECG, it's an easy uninvasive test that can usually show an abnormal QT duration. (long QT is a (usually) easily spotted condition that can kill you) also, look into your family history, find out if anyone has a habit of fainting, epilepsy or other heart issues.

Most doctors are not really aware of the possible issues. You can ask for a reference to a cardiologist If you want to. Spontaneous atrial fibrillation is not something to take lightly. That stuff will kill you.

Mtaylor,

Have you tried telling Death to "**** off"?

I have heard good results from that one.

Oh - and they should have given you the trophy on the bike race.... sheesh.
