This is so funny you bring this up. I watched about 3 minutes of "Commando" with the Governator on it the other day and thought - this is the stupidest movie ever. I thought it RIPPED back in the day.

I have a BUNHC of stuff, music, videos, movies, and the like that I thought was bad assed back in the day - but not so much any more.

Ok here is one....Movie wise that is

HeMan and the Masters of the Universe.

The one with Dalph Landren ...I thought it rocked as a kid now I cant help but think tela's outfit is a little to concealing especialy compared to the cartoon. "Tela Woman at arms!" Oh and evilyn her outfit was NOTHING like in the cartoon!

Oh and how about all the Ghoulies movies? or Munchies Ilaughed like mad as a kid althought I admit I still cringe at the part in Ghoulies 3 where the guy gets riped a new one literaly on the toilet!

Stripes!?! No way... that movie rocks!

One of the most influential movies in my young life was a movie called "Red Dawn". Probably not the best movie ever made, but still a classic and I own it on DVD.

My wife's former favorite movie is a better example of the genre we're going for here I think. She still gets excited when she sees that "Vision Quest" is gonna be on.

That might be because she was a "manager" for her HS wrestling team.

Stripes?

(still scratching my head on that one...)

I agree with Drum.. Stripes is a CLASSIC!!!!!

John Winger (Bill Murray) "We're all very different people. We're not Watusi, we're not Spartans, we're Americans. With a capital "A", huh? And you know what that means? Do you? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We're the underdog. We're mutts."

Great movie!

Excalibur - thought it was the coolest movie back when I was a young 'un (especially the "armored sex scene", ahhhh the beggining of a personal lecherous fantasy..but that's...another story altogether...:P)
Phantasm - still kinda like that one a little bit but LOVED it as a wee lad.
"Midway" and "A Bridge Too Far" - I lived for war movies back then, now they're kinda dated compared to what's out there now (Band of Brothers, Pvt Ryan, etc)

Drum - Red Dawn, heck ya, I loved that one and still do. "AVENGE ME!!!"

I would have to agree with Remo Williams, I put Buckaroo Bonzai in the same catagory.

I'd argue that the original Dawn of the Dead is the best zombie movie ever made, bar none. However, Id agree that Night of the Living Dead isn't so great.

The Last Starfighter.

Loved it as a kid. When I showed it to my friends as an adult I realized how dumb it was.
