We've seen the end coming for a while now...

The Government is already calling their un-manned Helicopters, with full Guns/Missle Loadouts.... "Hunter-Killers"... or "HK's" for short... (reminiscent of Terminator anyone? )

You also need to be asking yourself the really hard questions: are 'we' intelligent and self-aware, or is it just an artifact? Many theorists are now coming to the conclusion that our so-called intelligence and activity in the world is indistinguishable from a sophisticated simulation, and there's no way to determine whether we are or not from 'inside' the simulation.

Simple rules can give rise to all kinds of complex behaviors without any 'intelligence' behind them.

Maybe god's the guy who wrote the super simulation program; now he's playing 'the sims'. Better hope he doesn't get bored...
I really don't struggle with those kinds of questions since they're moot. And those people we describe as 'soulless', aren't truly without souls, but we simply say so as we would think that a person with a soul would never do what they would do or say. It's a descriptor of what we observe, not a statement of reality.

I know what God says on the issue, and since He's God, I believe Him. All the rest that assumes that God is wrong is really nonsense to me. If you believe it, then I can respect that YOU believe it, but I won't respect the belief itself.

The fact is that human beings have immortal (not eternal, as souls are part of the creature, and thus are created and have a beginning) souls. They are supernatural parts of us that we simply cannot duplicate. We can TRY, but we will inevitably fail (just like every other time that humans have tried to truly be God, not just play at it). Why? God won't allow it. God won't allow Himself to be mocked and let the mocker get away with it.

Or, as the great punchline goes when the scientist accepts God's challenge to a man-making contest: "Get your own dirt"

Come on, people. This is plain evidence that machines are becoming sapient. Before, they had only 2 states: yes, and no.

Now they can have 16 states:
Yes
No

God talks to you? Be careful who you let in on that...

I think what you meant to say is "I know what some publisher printed that some editor assembled that some Church voted to approve at a convention that some long dead guy told some other long dead guy told some other long dead guy that God said about the issue when he told him back before we even had the capacity to dream of the subject in question."

Assuming the whole "God" argument is moot and there in fact is one, why is humanity evolving to the point where it can duplicate a feat of God a mockery? Do you think God created Man to just hang around the Garden nekkid never to become anything more? Do you believe that God making a Man who could eventually become God-like in and of his own ingenuity is an affront to God, or a testament to God's power?

To assume that the creation of a sentient being (with a soul if you must) is God's ultimate achievement is to ascribe a limitation to God's power, which puts the whole omnipotence feature of God in question. Since God's power is supposedly infinite, accomplishment of a finite feat is by definition less power than God can have, so what point is there to not allowing His creations to do something similar? Why not say mastering fire is an affront to God, or walking erect?

Not to mention, you're heading down the path of the jealous pissy Old Testament God who is so insecure that he requires his inferior creations to periodically tell him how awesome he is and gets uncomfortable when they do something that smacks of something he did before or exercise the Free Will that He bestowed upon them. Is God the Smart Parts of deities who will sue you upside the head with a lightning bolt so he can have a monopoly on making intelligent organisms?

Brass, why would it be mocking? If a child trys to replicate what the mother or father is doing, the child isn't mocking, it is holding the parent in high regards and is trying to duplicate not out of spite but out of admoration

God also says that incest is A-Okay in his book.

You're down with that?
