Actually, that'll hurt it-a truck with an open bed loses a lot of mileage from the drag on the bed. I know our Tundra went from ~22 on the highway to ~18 when we took the topper off. Your best option is to put a bed cover on it, we get about ~24 like that. (Which is pretty good for a V8 truck!)

I thought about that, but I've noticed it's noticeably quicker from a stop due to the missing 200lbs that the shell added, plus it wasn't flush with the cab-it had a 'kick up' about 10" back that added another 8" or so of frontal area across the top.

I'll drive it this way awhile and see how it does. I do miss the ability to throw my dogs in the back, or carry my bike around without worry of it getting stolen.

Gas costs about 1,4€/litre which is 6,35 €/gallon, which would be around 9,5 of your money.
We don´t have any oil so we´re SOL now, even more when the price goes higher.
Thats why I´ve only had a bicycle for the last 4 yrs.

There are the $100 ish crap bikes at the box stores like Walmart or Target or Fred Meyers, then if you go to a specialty store for a bike they cost more than my rent!
I'm having a heck of a time finding anything mid ranged. The best so far was just shy of $400...
I'm not trying to climb a mountian with the stupid thing. I just want to be able to ride around in a few places comfortably.

So it looks like we're even screwed with the kind of bikes you peddle.
Hey Lis, I dont know if they have any intermediate sporting goods stores up there but i was looking for a midgrade bike my self recently. They are running what they call a hybrid now, basicly a mountain bike with smoother wide street tires an a comfy seat for under or near 200, so it'll beat a wal-ly world special any day.
