In order for the Automatic fire arms to cycle, a Blank-firing adaptor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia is needed. BFA blocks some gas in the barrel to recock the gun.

Manual blot action rifles don't need it.

Kampfer.... I thought you were California.... how did you go about purchasing an AK? I thought they were on the ultra ban list of items that will get you taken to a back room and smacked around.

Well, this question needs a long answer....
WASR = Wassenaar Arrangement Semi-automatic Rifle
Semi-Auto, not Full Auto

If that is a WASR-1, uses 7.62x9mm it would be on the ban list.
But mine is WASR-2, uses 5.45X39mm, not on the ban list.
The magazine, I had it before 1998, so it is okay.
Pistol girp is no okay, but I have another lawful girp on when I bought it.

Legal with "non-removeable" 10 round magazines or you can replace the pistol grip with a lame grip

California Definition of Assault Weapon

12276.1. (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:

(1) a semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one o=f the following:

(a) pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
"pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon” means a grip that allows for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed below the top of the exposed portion of the trigger while firing.
(b) thumbhole stock.
(c) folding or telescoping stock.
(d) grenade launcher or flare launcher.
(e) flash suppressor.
(f) forward pistol grip.
