| Public Apology Last night, I created a thread about a young Korean boy that was extremely gifted at guitar. I gave the thread a rather controversial title, but I assure you, it was meant merely as a joke. While the title may have been controversial, I stated my respect for the young prodigy, and harbor no harsh feelings towards any race. I would like to apologize for the thread, and to everyone it may have offended. I don't take offending people lightly. If I think I hurt someone, I honestly feel bad about it. I know I must have offended someone, and to whomever you may be, I truly am sorry. Thinking back, it was not the smartest move I've made, and I would like to thank the moderators for doing a good job, and removing the thread. I'll take my warning in stride. I deserved it. The thread was truly in poor taste. On a similar note, my "foruming" here has been slipping. I'm practically spamming, and my sense of humor is, well, questionable. I would also like to apologize for that. I never wanted to be "that one guy" that every forum has to suffer through. I will do my best to restrain my internet ADD. All apologies and self-loathing aside, I would like to repost the original content of my aforementioned thread. Maybe give this thread some content. Guitar Prodigy Once again, sorry, and I'll try to calm down. |

| THE ANTI-SHILL | As did I. But it is always a slippery slope. It was reported a few times as well as having some posts about it. ~H |

| I think the only thread where I was offended by was this thread: Korean astronaunt said she was "really scared," so what? That was where my respect to mcb dropped a bit. I say only because I missed the other one (guitarist).

| I think we all should be worrying about the countries financial woes and $4.00 a gallon gasoline. Not something as minor as this. No biggie and it was admirable that you apologized.

| I Am The Admin | Not a problem... I read it, and let it stay myself, as the context was cool... It's all good.

| It's always best not to race-bait, even if unintentional. Unintentional is another word for ignorant. The fact that the kid is Asian has nothing to do with him being good at playing the guitar.

| actually.... it kinda does... Japan and Korea are both rather famous for people who are absolute perfectionists. This is neither a good or bad thing, it is similar to how the Czech Republic and Poland are famous for good beer or Canada is well known for hockey. It's a well known and recognized regional trait. As for the thread title... i was taken aback, but not overly concerned over the title, given the general population here, i kinda assumed it would be followed by 'Because they did (xxxx) so much better than i could'

| drg: Yes, I realize that. I was hoping that others would know I realized that, and wouldn't take it so seriously. But what's done is done, and I can't take it back. But in all honesty, was it really that offensive? I mean, in essence, I said Asians were better than me. Was it racist? Yes. Was it used in hateful context? No. It's like saying all black people have giant, well you know, and all Jews are rich. I was hoping people would realize that no one actually believes this, or thinks any less of anyone because of these "jokes." I'm disappointed people take it so seriously, but since I did regrettably offend someone, the most I can do is offer my sincere apologies. Like I said, I do not like offending people, and I do not go out of my way to do so. I just should learn not everyone shares my sense of humor, or would be willing to take such things in stride, and as I said, I'm sorry to offend. |

Black people can jump higher than white people. That is a stereotype. And ya know what? 90% of the time it's true. Until you get into the fat people group, so we'll exclude them. However it's not something that is meant to hurt, defame, or attack a group. It's just an observation on the bodies mechanics of one race from another. We are all built similar in design. But equal? Created equal and built equal are completely different from one another. Asians are perfectionists. Jewish are the best hagglers. White people are most common serial killers. God invented Whiskey so the Irish wouldn't control the world. All stereotypes. But hateful? Bigotry? It all comes down to context and intent. [insert race/group] is lazy/stupid/murderers/etc. That is a hateful context. Is being called a perfectionist something bad? I wish I was a perfectionist and could go through 7 years of medical school. But that's just not in me. Somebody striving to be better is not an evil ambition. Working your off is a positive trait. It all comes down to the intent of the message.
