My first custom....

set of RAILINGS...

been working on these for a few weeks now on the weekend... The house belongs to my brother in-law. They bought it and had the flooring equivalent of a 'paint party'...before I even started I had some work to do to remove the existing nosing around the hole, and re-install it level. Then the posts had to go in; they went in suprisingly well... It's all maple, the design is my own, it's going to get a deep cherry top. I almost finished the second panel today...

thanks Mayvik, thanks Tommy.

No to bathrooms, and yes to finishing, so I can get my *** to the field and shoot faces!

Nice wood!
That looks very nice. I really like the look of the maple, so nice and light to brighten up the home. Great job!

I need a kitchen!

Very nice stuff. Personally I prefer darker colors on my wood.

Very nice. The cherry cap will look great with the maple. Good match with the floor color too.

I do a lot of two-tone cabinet work every year. I like the way they turn out.

thanks everyone! The posts are anchored with 'Max-lags' which are essentially a steel plate with 8 holes and a massive lag screw. The screw goes down into the floor into a 3/8 pilot hole, and 8, 3 inch #10 stainless screws go up, into the post. Pretty freaking solid, I had my doubts but wow.

Very nice work Mar!

Are you going to hide visible screw holes with dowels? It's a pain in the *** to do sometimes but it makes things look very nice in the long run.

Keep up the good work and remember... measure twice and cut once!
