The window sticker is pretty conservative btw. I am getting around 24/25 city and 32-35 highway on averge. ME HAPPY!!!!!!!!!

We just gave our beloved VW Passat GLX wagon to my B-I-L and purchased a lightly used '05 BMW X3.
Not quite as sweet on the gas as your new ride, S, but it does okay with the little Hondas. I am averaging about 20 in town and about 28-30mpg on the highway.

Even holds its own against its fellow (6cyl) Germans... last night, I was at a stop light in the right lane when a really detailed and swanky looking Audi A4 pulled up next to me in the left lane. The driver and passenger were looking at me with the bemused hungry look that said, "Let's go!". The light turned green and they were gone like a shot. (stupid automatic transmissions...)

I, with my manual gearbox, took a second or two to get rolling and then I ran second gear up to about 5500rpm before a quick shift to third. When I looked up from my gauges, the Audi was a car length behind and we were zooming along at about 80mph. Not bad considering we had about 500 yards between lights.

Needless to say... I won. My first "kill story" with the new ride.

This sort of thing happens often enough when I am driving the 540i, but this is the first time that I would consider it a "race". That big V8 does not have too many peers on the road.

Notwithstanding all that, I loved that Passat wagon. It was sleeper hot and the 5spd gearbox was very forgiving. I am missing it despite the clear improvement that this BMW represents.

Congrats on the new wheels, S. I look forward to checking them out.

They will be arriving at EMR on 8/2 for inspection and thrill rides....$.25 and you must be at least 48" to ride the ride.

Harb the house is about $270K has a beautiful back yard inground pool and patio area, very very nice rancher.

I'm hoping I can unload my 95 wrangler soon. Looking to pick up an early jettaIV, '99 or '00, and if at all possible I'm hoping to find a 5speed wolfsburg (mmmm 1.8T engine!).

270 is a bit beyond my range at this point. Unless I get a really good job offer.

I found a guy down in Texas who runs a place called Diesel Toys who does TDI conversions for light trucks and jeeps. His Tacomas outfitted with Jetta TDI engines...mmmm...
