Just remember, once the government is granted permission for a temporary tax, it will never be returned.

Federal income tax was originally brought to being to fund a specific war, it has never been given back, even though that war was long since done.

Minnesota passed a tax (one that was rejected under refferendum 3 time I think) to fund the construction of the Metro dome 20 years ago, they long since paid it off, and that staduim tax remained the same. Now, they talk about building a new stadium (because some fool thinks an outdoor stadium makes sense in Minnesota) and adding another "temporary" tax for that one. Power granted to the government will never be given back to you.

It also NEVER does what they say it will do.

It also mostly is completely wasted, going to friends of those who are in charge of the money gathered.

Firefly had a great quote about government. Something about controlling people by giving power to an entity comprised of those who are mostly ungoverned themselves. We have ZERO control over that money once it is turned over to them. They have no reason to do anything but pad their own personal accounts with that money, and show a minimal amount of work done, and not enough people will be up in arms to do anything about it. Anyone who speaks out becomes a "fringe activist" or crazy, and if you dare to compare this to other instances in history that lead up to totalitarian, you are told your argument is irrelevant due to you bringing out the "Nazi" card.

Government, be it Republican or Democrat run should be reduced, no more power should be given to it, no more money should be granted for it to control, and it should be sliced diced in every category, sector, and section.

Almost all of those in senate, congress, judicial, and executive branches are more than deserving of the gallows.

PA has a tax that was established for the relief of the Johnstown Flood of 1936, still on the books.
