I was at the range tonight, and I couldn't resist. I picked up a two-tone Sig P238 in .380 ACP. I had planned to pick up a Ruger Mark III, but they didn't have any that I liked, and once I picked up the P238, I had to have it. It is badass. Balances perfectly and points extremely well, despite being a 2-finger grip. I ran 50 rounds through it, and kick is minimal. It is night and day compared to the P3AT I shot one time. Once ammo is abundant, I can easily see myself running through a couple of boxes without any adverse effects on my shooting hand. Possible cons: 1) Mags cost ~45, but I've seen them for as high as 60 online 2) .380 is rare and damn expensive. The gun shop was rationing out .380 to people who buy a .380 pistol. 1 box of target ammo, 2 boxes of defensive hollow points. 3) Two failure to extracts. Hopefully the gun just needs to be broken in. 4) Extractor was extremely powerful when it worked. One casing kicked back into my eye, which would have hurt pretty bad if I hadn't been wearing shooting glasses. All in all, I'm pretty happy with it. I got it for 469 + tax - 3% cash discount. Worked out to 560 for the pistol, 2 boxes of ammo, 2 free range visits, background check, and GP100 moonclip. Looking online at prices, I got a pretty good deal. I will say that this shop is back in my good graces. They experimented with gouging, but they're back to their normal prices. For a little while, it was 30 for a box of .45 ACP and 17 for a box of 9mm. Ick. Pics tomorrow!

I myself just picked up a Sig 226 in .357 Sig... I opted for to buy an extra barrel chambered in .40 as well...I was really impressed with it unforunately the .357sig recoil is a little rough but not bad as long as you pivot properly... |

I myself have always wanted a pistol in .357 sig, but that stuff is even more expensive than the .380 or .45 or .357 mag that I already shoot. I plan on getting a concealed carry permit, and this pocket .380 would be perfect in that regard.

I currently use Break Free to lube and clean my guns. What's this Mil-Comm stuff that they included with the gun? Should I be using it instead?

Sigs are the way to go, by far my favorite guns. I used my new(back then) P250 for all of my SWAT training and couldn't have been more happy with it no issues at all even with it being literally brand new the week before I left. For a smallish weapon for concield carry I have never found anything I like more then my P230. Sig just makes awsome weapons.

.380 is a great caliber and isn't that rare..just buy your ammo online and you'll be fine.

Work is looking to start arming certain security personal in country. If I get my choice, either Sig or Glock. Sig is in the top 2 on my short list of fav's. Kinda funny that the security people up in B.C is becoming privatized Police forces now with the A.S.T and arming of guards.

Sig and Glock will be the eternal struggle, both are fantastic shooting super reliable guns. It really comes down to feel(or what is issued), as the two feel very different. I can't stand the feel of Glocks, but then again before getting my P250(first Sig) I'd done everything with a Berretta 92 the grip angle on the Glock feels too different, the Sig just feels right.

IMHO Glocks have too much muzzle flip, and I prefer SA triggers with safeties to Glock DAO. I can double tap all day long with my M645 in .45 ACP but I can't rapid fire worth crap with my friends Glock 19. Love my P238. Some things I've noticed: 1) Safety is great. When the hammer is down, it flips on and off very easily. When the hammer is cocked, the safety is a bit harder to disengage, but still very easy. It becomes fairly hard to engage, which if you think about it, is exactly what you want. I have to apply a fair amount of pressure with my right thumb or use my left hand. 2) Trigger is super sweet. Think high end Autococker trigger, but shorter. 3) I read online that magazines are interchangeable with Colt Mustang mags. So, they're slightly cheaper than I thought. I wish it had a decocker, but I suppose it isn't such a hassle to unload the gun before dropping the hammer. I've read a lot of comments decrying the looks, but I think it's a fairly handsome piece.
