Field Reviews, British Columbia:Canada

Hey all, New to the forums, though been playing the game on and off for years.

I figure I would start a thread for some Canadian fields. I live near Vancouver, British Columbia so I will put in fields as I experience them in this thread.

First One: Panther Paintball in the city of Langley.
Costs:
$10 admission, includes all day air.
$120 for case of paint (if your not a member)

Staging zone:
Fair size with an indoor and outdoor area. Lots of tables to use. Porta-a-John and indoor plumbing nearby. Everything nearby is netted for safety. VERY strict safety rules in staging area. Have a small concessions booth, can get burger, fries, drinks etc.

Safety:
Very STRICT (which I like)
In the staging area Barrel Socks MUST be on unless your gun has the hopper, tank and barrel off of it. Violators risk getting kicked off pretty fast.
On the field your mask had better be on at all times. You get one warning, and then risk getting kicked off for the day.
All players get chrono'd by refs when they show up. Refs carry pocket chronos if need to check someone on field.
Refs are usually younger guys who play on the speedball teams. Never had a bad experience with a ref yet.

The Fields:
2 Speed ball fields(dont play)
5 woods ball type fields.

Nice variety in the woods ball fields. They are all fairly small, action happens pretty quick.
The City: A short field filled with lots of built structures and a couple of cars. Some barrels, car tire bunkers and two towers.
The Trenches: Fun field with lots of trenchs and dug outs. Little ravines and some tree areas. There are some blackberry bushes growing, but didnt have a problem with them as they created natural barriers.
Crack Shack: Standard built structure where one team tries to defend and one attacks. Has some nice barriers along the way.
The Fort: Similar to the crack shack, the fort is a lot bigger and the terrain is lot more bushy.
The Woods: Very tall trees, old growth forrest with very little shrubs. Built structure in the middle.

There is also some events where they open up the back fields to create a huge playing area.

Over all I like this field. Only real complaint is that sometimes its gets a little too busy and then you have teams of 25 players fighting on fields that are a bit too small to accomodate those numbers. (aka:slaughter fest)
Sometimes the teams are not as balanced as they should be, refs will typically fix that problem after a game or two.

hmmm, so far ive been playing pump against all electros at ambush. the only reason im there is because the paint is decently priced with a membership. ( 65$ a year and 100 bucks a case for their crappy paint, free air and entry). meh. Im gonna head on over to panther and maple ridge pb and probably switch permantly. Ill also get to see the falcons live for the first time...WOOT WOOT.

I looove the Panther dirtmound field. I just wish they would add more bunkers to the longball forest fields, and fix all those glory holes in the urban field! I always find myself getting into a building and then just sitting there trying to contort so I'm not exposed because of all the holes.

But those holes are what makes it so much fun to shoot a ccm at unsuspecting players on the other side. "no way he can shoot me through this small hole.....damn it, HIT!"

I played Panther a couple of years ago ( I don't get to the mainland often). As a fieldowner I noticed a few things that they did different than we do, some good, some not so good. The ref we had seemed to be a little preoccupied with the regulars out that day and did little other than start and stop the game and talk to the regulars. Maybe he was new.

The terrain Panther has is great and I would not hesitate to go back for another visit.

Here is my ghetto add-on to this review in point form and a little bit of barely coherent writing.

Fields:

The Good:
-Great terrain
-Constantly evolving fields (upgrades)
-No real disadvantages for either side (if there is it is usually fixed in a timely manner)
-Lots of fields (about 6 used commonly, but more if you don't mind the walk)

The Bad:
- I honestly cant think of anything that gets on my nerves

Staff:
The Good:
-Very friendly
-Extremely safety conscious

The Bad: (non of this really bugs me but i may annoy some others)
-Staff are mostly high school students (not a problem as they are friendly and keep it safe)
-A few of them have very little paintball marker knowledge (We all start somewhere but there are a few that are great with markers, braun for an example)

Paint:

The Good:
-lots of variety offered (marbs, all star, formula 13, and others depending on the weekend)
-competitive prices, even more so with the highest membership (retail pricing effectively)

The Bad:
- Paint storage is not always marquee (usually only affects the lower end paint)

Facilities:

The Good:
- covered staging
- alot of tables
- Food vendors on site.
- porta-potties and plumbing on site
- compressed air fills and co2 are all day air
- Netting is all around the neutral zone and parking lot
- lockboxes attached to tables for your keys/wallets

The Bad:
- Indoor plumbing sometimes clogs

This is my home field and probably the best field i have been too to this point. It has a great community of regulars and new players as well. There are plenty of us who run pumps all day and there is a good amount of mcb players here as well. Panther Paintball gets a 9.5/10 from me, its not perfect but it is the closest field to perfect that i have ever played at.
