Mokal Aura 2011 SQUEE

IT'S FINALLY HERE OMG SQUEE! Enough of that. I've decided to get a Mokal Aura, and now it is finally in my petite grubby paws. At $350, I thought it was a good deal. Due to the extremely small amount of info regarding this gun, I thought I'd post my thoughts on it. These are my first impressions, I shall add more as I play with it. First off, I'd like to say Mokal's customer service is excellent, something which makes me extremely happy inside. When ordering, I attempted to buy through their recently revamped website, only to be foiled by an error on the website. So I called up the guy in charge(Kind of awkward, not knowing his name despite having called several times with questions about the aura, and help with my mirage) and he sent a paypal invoice himself, and removed the shipping charges. When the gun arrived, it was in a simple cardboard box with a custom cut foam insert inside.

Included is the gun, barrel(.69 bore), an instruction manual(scan attached to review) and an allen key set. I noticed right away how tiny the gun is.

People with huge mitts might find it a bit hard to hold if you're gloved and you put the part of your palm under your thumb behind the foregrip. The actually grip is comfy, and has plenty of room. Some people complain that the mill lines are ugly, but personally I like the look of them. When I looked closely at some the rounded surfaces, tool marks were visible. It should be noted that all of the markers are matte anodized.

When I put my 13 ci and an APP 50 round hopper(half full), It was still quite light, in fact, remarkably close to my CCI phantom. This is great for me because whenever I play I make mad dashes, and heavy markers are very restrictive for that purpose. This gun has an on/off ASA with purge, and it is extremely easy to turn, and i doubt that gloves will make it any harder. The controls for this gun are an off switch in the triggerguard opposite the trigger(You can push it in, turning it off, using just your trigger finger, but you need two fingers to pull it out [meh])

two buttons and 3 LEDs on the foregrip, and dipswitches for the tournament modes in the grip. There are 5 modes you can use with the foregrip(Semi, 3 round burst, full auto, ramp, and another ramp) and you can also turn the eyes on or off on the foregrip. Here are the internal pictures.

TL,DR:

Pros:
Worth the money
Customer service makes you want to hug orphans
Tiny?
Lightweight
Comfortable
Interesting curves
Hoseless, on/off ASA
Clamping feedneck
Eyes have clear plastic colors inside breach
Several firing modes

Cons:
Only available in matte finishes
Tool marks
Tiny?
Huge bore(.69)

Afterthoughts: This is all I can think of right now and I will add more as time progresses. If there's anything you wanted to know, or wanted pictures of something, just post and I'll post that up for you. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. You will find a scan of the manual here: Le manual scan

I'm curious to hear operating pressure and efficiency numbers once you get them

Internals posted. How would I go about finding operating pressure?

Is it just me or do I spy two microswitches for the trigger?

The switch by the solenoid is for the trigger, the other one is toggled by the button opposite the trigger in the triggerguard.

I guess there's really no good place to put a gauge, huh?

Primarily I'm looking for sound signature by way of operating pressure.. so if you can compare the sound against a marker or two which most people know about, that might work just as well.

Thanks Benedict!

Let me guess, the cool face is pointing to the connector for the battery clip, and it's a real bitch to put back on.
