Carter Machine Boxgun Review

Hey everybody! I have finally decided that I want to start reviewing some of my favorite products so I figured I would start with my Boxgun!

PLEASE NOTE: carter machine markers are all hand made one at a time, that being said my boxgun will be different than others.

I will give a little backround information first. I had originally wanted a redux but after waiting for many months I decided to look into something different. That is when I noticed Worrptangl's boxgun and I fell in love with the style. I pm'd demonio at the time that earon had just finished 2 boxguns and one happened to be gloss black(my favorite color on a gun). Needless to say I picked it up in a heartbeat. This took place in february 2011- the gun was built in 2011 so it is a current style

Here is some basic information and specs regarding MY boxgun:
-Extended slide, barrel, pump(by about an inch)
-Extended barrel(extends past the rest of the gun by almost 2 inches)
-Barrel has an insert kit(.674, .677, .680, .683, .686, .689)
-Barrel has spiral porting
-humpback slider frame
-BBA
-Gets a good 40 shots per 12g
-Tampered top rail with sights
-Round pump handle
-Pachmayre american legend grips

Looks: This is completely subjective when judging looks on a paintball marker but IMO this is one of the best looking guns out there. The milling on the Rail/feedtube is simply stunning. With this boxgun, there is a lot of rounded parts such as the feed-tube and and pump handle and it really helps to break up the "box" look- NOT to take anything away from the older boxguns as those are beautiful aswell. I rate this a 10/10

Feel/ergonomics This is another part of the review that is subjective to the user as preferences differ from person to person. I LOVE the grip frame of this gun. The hump-back really melts into the palm of your hand and with the pachmayer grips that I have installed: it is the most comfortamle frame I have ever felt. The pump handle is round unlike most other boguns and it too simply melts into your hands. It is ribbed so it provides great traction when pumping.
The Feel of this gun is superb. I rate this a 9/10

Pump stroke: The boxgun's pump handle has an aluminum collar the goes around the barrel, similar to a phantom in that sense. Unlike a phantom however the collar is properly sized to the outer diameter of the barrel so there is no jiggling of the handle on the barrel. The boxgun pump handle uses a dual screw mounting sysetm where there is 1 screw on each side of the handle to connect to the bolt(very simmilar to the buzzard). This creates a very smooth pump stroke with little to no slop. The return spring on my boxgun is very heavy which I dont particularly care for. I am getting a new one as we speak.
Overall the boxgun's pump stroke is just as smooth as CCM, but not nearly as light. Overall I give this section an 8.5/10

Trigger pull The trigger on this marker is simply fantastic, it has a very smooth pull and break. It is fairly stiff but it smoothes out over time. I give this section a 9/10

User freindliness? The boxgun is a handmade gun that nas VERY tight tolerances. You will find that if you dont put it together JUST right, it wont work properly. Each boxgun is different and with time, I have learned the way it likes to the put together. I rate this a 6/10

Acurracy I know accuracy is 99% paint quality and user skill but there is still something to be said here. The gun has a tampered top rail meaning the rail is slightly tilted downward so when you aim using the sights, the barrel is naturally pointed a bit upward. This is nice because it makes the sights usable for a longer range. The sights themselves are very nice aswell and help me aim a lot better. Overall I rate this area a 10/10 FOR THE GUN PORTION

Playability This is a stock class pistol format marker. There is a learning curve to being able to use this marker effectivly. That being said the gun does work very well for serious playing. It has a barrel kit with 6 sizers so paint to bore matching can be properly achieved as well as NO ROLOUTS! This gun gets a good 30-40 shots of a 12g and is pretty consistant. Playing with a sc pistol is a lot of fun and I think this is one of the best pistols out there. I rate playability a 5/10 but once the learning curve is overcome, it gets a solid 10/10

Customer service There is practically no way of getting into contact with earon carter directly short of showing up at his shop. Demonio(member on MCB) is earon's internet voice and if you have questions regarding purchaces or anything else carter related, he is great about helping you out. Demonio is NOT an employee for earon carter and will not always be able to get back to you but be PATIENT, he will take care of you. Earon carter himself always does a good job tuning and fixing his markers so that is nothing to worry about. I rate this section an 8/10 I wish earon had a direct line of contact

Would I recomend the boxgun/is it worth it If you are enthusiastic about stock class and accept the learning curve to a handmade machine like this then HELL YEAH IT IS WORTH IT

Oh and 1 thing I wanted to mention is that these are not cheap, mine cost me 1400 after tax and what not but I am happy with my purchace!

If you sat through that whole review then you deserve a reward, PICS:

Let me know hod I did on my first review

So you finally pick that up, does the handle feel a big "wiggly" to you? To me it seem a bit "wiggly" when comparing to the other box gun that they are selling at Velocity.

The handle does not really wiggle a whole lot, I have not seen this other boxgun, do you have pics or specs?

Velocity have it on sale at their Bonita store if you want to take a look.

I was testing your gun when it was at Demonio, that is why I am asking about the pump handle.

Normally I don't like the aesthetics of the BG but for some reason I dig this one. Very nice piece!

Ok I understand now. I have not have any issue with it wigling around but is it does, it must be so minor that it never really crossed my mind as an issue.

Cool review Lehooch. I always wanted one. One day. One day.

Is it me or does the pump handle look different from other BGs, looks rounder. I like it.

The pump handle is much rounder than most. It is actually completely round.
