Fluffy Bunnies for life!!
WTF Multi-Cam Hoodie
If you’re reading this you might either be bored or looking at the WTF shirt as a possible addition to your collection of gear. Let me start by saying this is by far the most expensive piece of soft goods for paintball I have bought. That fact alone scares folks off (I think) from buying it, however when compared to a custom jersey or other hand made gear the price isn’t bad for what you get. Now for the review….
Whiskey Two Four gear is all custom made (when I ordered it) and they do not stock any items. This is why there are long lead times and patience is key. Ryan contacted me a couple of times with questions of how I wanted my shirt to be. He was making a new design that was closer to the standard combat or duty shirt that is available but with the added bicep pouches. I opted to stay with the design he had originally with the jersey like look. I am wearing this for paintball not storming a Taliban compound in the Middle East, there as some features that I don’t need on a piece of paintball gear that real military does. The last time Ryan contacted me was to tell me about the final change to the design, it was a face palm moment, he replaced the sewn in pouches with a MOLLE panel. Pure genius, now you can put whatever pouch he sells on it at anytime.
The shirt is not your typical under the vest shirt. The material for the body is t-shirt or jersey cotton material, very comfortable and stretchy. The top portion (Multi-Cam in my case) is rip-stop material and the stitching is top notch. The cuffs are typical Velcro closure which makes it easy to get on and then to secure once you’ve got remote lines or any padding you want on under them. Sizing is great, I got an XL and it is roomy enough for an undershirt or if you need one a chest protector.
One thought I had is to make the cuffs with thumbholes or half gloves, it would center the sleeve on the arm and stop any twisting of the sleeves from the load of the panels on the bicep. Adding padded elbows and forearms would be great for those times that you need to go prone, this may be to close to a speedball jersey for some but it is really nice to have you elbow pads blended into one shirt. This would take away some of the milsim aspect of the shirt, however I find that some of those features are really nice to have. If they could find a way to meld the padding/backing that is in the gauntlets that WTF make to this shirt is would rock. Another touch would be adding a butthole stictched cut out to the armpit. Why?? For some running your remote line up your sleeve versus outside, granted you can't switch hands but it is noce for those of us that prefer it.
Great idea to change them from sewn in to modular, now you can added or move the panels to any position you want. I have the six panel 10 round tubes on the biceps right now, they are kinda big however they aren’t so big as to drag the sleeve around or cause too much movement. Running around the panels do move a little side to side, however not enough to really bother you or to throw tubes out.
A Multi-Cam hoodie….. hell yeah. Great Idea for woodsball or rec-ball, need to cover that fat melon of yours better? Pull up the hood, getting too hot pull it off. The hood is very roomy and fits over your mask with no troubles and does not restrict your view at all. When you take it off it is out of the way and doesn’t bunch up at all.
As far as a woodsball shirt goes this rocks. Better quality then anything out there and purpose built for paintball. Granted some of the tweaks I am thinking of come form what I like, not what will work for all. Like padded fore arms and elbows, for some this wouldn’t be their cup of tea, for me I crawl in the dirt and put my dukes up (so to speak, not fighting just I usually have my arms out in front of my so they get pummeled). Integrated gloves or thumb loops with the padding would be nice, if WTF was to do that, they could make the forearm/cuff similar to the front of their gauntlets with the loops to slip over your fingers (maybe something like that). Granted the shirt is functional for airsoft, paintball, and outside of paintball (???) so I can understand some of the more generic features. This review will be ongoing and I will be beating this shirt to hell and back (not on purpose, I am a giant klutz). Over all so far I am more than pleased with the shirt/jersey, I would recommend it to anyone who asks if it is worth it.

That is really awesome. A very nice look at a cool product. Maybe when I'm not broke I'll have to look into something like this. Wonder if he can get Cadpat

How is it playing with a hood up? Do you feel like your neck movement is restricted at all?
I mean, sure, I wear Whiteout Valken Crusades when playing, but I wouldn't mind a bit of camo around the head/shoulders area .

No real restriction other then it gets alittle warm when your running around in AZ. I find it works great when your trying to be in cover tucked in into the crook of a tree or bush, breaks up the outline of the mask better. When I am moving with it on it moves with my mask and head better then I thought it would. with it off it stays out of the way pretty good, flops a little.
