ECAP Gets a HAMMER7.....A love story in the making!

I got a lovely message today telling me that the Hammer7's that I ordered came in. So the second that I got out of work I swung over to the proshop to go grab them.... Ok, granted one was mine, the other is my fathers for Christmas.

Well...

First of, the box isn't going to win any one over... Mine already is beat up both inside and out. But I mean really its a box. Buy gun and chuck.

Open the box, OH BOY Look a the goodies. Typical spares kit, and a bunch of odd ball screws that are for the gun. Pump arm barrel retainer and allen keys.

Hammer ASSEMBLEd!

Okay... here is where I get impressed, threaded muzzle break in 7/8-20. Fits LAPCO goodies just fine.

Maybe some older school barrels for you taste..... but, the pump does wiggle a bit with thinner barrels.

Phantom on top of the Hammer for an idea of size.

Innards... nice brass hammer and a funky flat bottom bolt. Also one complaint, the stock spring is HEAVY if you aggressively autotrigger it burps the valve. I haven't chronoed it yet though.

Phantom valve body and a hammer valve body

This is my one gripe.... there is a huge gap between the stock grips and frame, this may be an issue with aftermarket grips. I will check and get back.

I need to field this gun for a better full review but right now I am impressed with the whole gun. It is light but built like a damn tank.

looks like mostly proprietary internals, but nelson guns can be tuned a lot of ways.

i wonder what the front groove on the top of the bolt is for. breech retainer screw?

the grips are fine even without the wraparound. when i met lou i tried one with regular panel grips. super nice.

bottomline screw holes! lou delivers!

The groove is for the detente, this way when you can rotate the breach and not hang up the detente in a non grooved area.

then what's the bottom flat slot for?

wait, don't tell me, the mag carrier?

strange, it shouldn't seal so well with that slot, but when i shot the gun it shot fine

i was going to give this review a 10/10 for joker picture, now it deserves 11

do you think you can make a pump handle that uses a spare mag as a foregrip, or would that look too weird?
