The flex is my mask of choice for comfort and that unless its raining they don't fog. Anyone concerned with the flex soft ears should look into Dye I3 ears.

Diomedes,

Always enjoy your reviews, and another great one here. As noted by several folk already, I really wish more masks had the hard ear option. We care about our eyes, but not our ears? It's unbelievable. Had Empire E-flexes, then went to I4s, then finally went back to the lowly Helix, simply because it works, offers hard ears, and you can hear perfectly with them on, something you can't do with the I4s, Profits, E-flexes, etc. Moreover I found that with the E-flexes and I4s, even though they had well-made soft ears, the fit was such that a good rap to the ear was concussive, while the hard ears of the Helix, which cup out around the ear but don't actually touch it, are loud, but not deafening.

There are still a few masks out there I'm itching to try, some listed here, and I'll definitely revisit these, as I never knew they had a hard ear option.

Thanks very much for this, and the new lead it provides.

He nick named the gun Reggie.

Turns out, you're not the first person to think that. In fact, I whipped up this graphic a few months back, when I noticed a bit of a trend:

You can get hard ear aftermarket options, but they're third party. I prefer them to the stock ones which don't offer much protection at all. I love my proflexes as well.

Sounds like you need a used pair of flex 7's. Solve that ear problem right quick. I run them with computer fans to cool me down a lil, and love them. Hard ear protection is the way to go. I like my ears, those lil guys are crazy useful.

I love my Profilers. Been wearing them for almost 6 years now, I think?

I do wish the foam was more easily replaceable. Mine are falling apart, and I think the only option is to get a new mask.

Hmmm not having that issue with mine. I figure if I get 6+years out of my set and have to buy a new pair due to the foam then I'd say no big deal. I can get a brand new set for 80 and if you look over 6 years that's what $13 per year or so?

I use the Empire Event/E-Flex ears on mine they work way better than the crappy foam ears and 10 times more comfortable. If anyone wants to see a pic of how I have them attached I can put one in this thread or in another thread and link it here.

Post it up, I've been wondering if that could be done. I've seen JT ears on E-Flexes, and JT bottoms on E-Flex frames/ears, but not the Empire ears on JT frames, I don't think.
