Yeah! Tiberius 8

OK so, after much saving, and a little creative accounting to convince the parents I won't go broke, I am now the owner of a sexy black Tiberius 8. I had heard a lot about it and only tried it once, so I was kind of crossing my fingers and hoping that it would be everything I was told. It was. The clips fire two and a half full times before the 12 gram runs out. Great efficiency for a pistol. Accuracy is top notch also. I can make shots with this that I would not even imagine taking with my core ZX. It sits well in the hand, solidly, though the grip is very large. If you have small hands be wary. Perhaps someone can make an aftermarket grip that will fit small shooters hands but for now I guess it's hit or miss. The balance is excellent, almost as good as the AGA62, which I believe is the best balanced pistol ever made for paintball.

On many websites the gun is shown with a black pistol case. These only came with the first thousand or so and mine was not one of those. The guy at the company told me that they are still available for around 10$ if you call Tiberius Arms and order one. Their customer service was excellent. On the clip that came with the gun, the hole in the top that allows the gas to channel into the gun was not drilled all the way. When I called I was immediately offered a replacement, which is arriving soon. The other two clips functioned beautifully.

As playstyle goes, you must also be wary. This pistol is not quiet. When you fire it, it isn't too bad. But putting the clip in makes it click into place loudly, and ejecting it makes a burst of air. The clips, due to weight, are also prone to making noise coming in and out of the gun. I suppose the lesson learned is just to reload before you enter any situation that requires stealth. IMO the zeus is better for that kind of primary work. The Tib8 is better suited to the sidearm, or general light primary role though, as it's smaller size and better accuracy give it the edge.

There's no aftermarket yet. If only someone could make a 1911ish body for these and nickel plate it that would be sweet. I have yet to find a good holster for the draw either, though the one that was suggested to me here on PBC functions well to carry it out of the way. Whitewolf says that it will be coming out with some stuff soon, including a freak barrel, a raincover-ish thing and some kind of "body kit." Hopefully the quality and price is right.

Hope this helped, any Q's?

Glad to finally hear a review of the newest pistol to paintball. I agree with you that I am anxious to see the aftermarket items that may or may not be coming for these pistols. You stated that you think it is better as a backup rather than a primary. Even at only eight rounds the pistol has a true clip and as is such I would think that it would be easier to reload than other pistols.

The barrel is from End Game and should be out shortly, last I heard the prototypes should be in our hands before Castle but you never can be sure.

Just got a chance to speedball with this thing. It's evil, just point and shoot. Feels like an execution when you bunker somebody and it's so easy to employ on the field. My only regret is that I don't have two.

Hehe, this makes 3 pistols and 2 long guns. There is a disturbance in the balance of the force that must be reconciled...

Just to add to the positive review above by Surge-NS, I received 8 pistols and 10 mags at our store. I tested every piece and found only one problem with one mag. (that's 18 mags.). Tiberius staff were quick to solve that problem too. All shot 260+/- out of the box. Barrels presented no problem with nubbins as I've heard rumors of. Mag. inserting and locking in place didn't pose any problems either. One only needs to remeber the nafaious ball hiding inside when you remove a loaded/partial loaded mag. Piercing the 12 gram has to be done in one fluid motion or ice will cause leaks.

Taking apart is a bit involved but posed no real problem since owner's manual was pretty comprehensive.
