Question about S5

I see this slot in S5 bodies. What are they and what are they for?

The wire detent? Its the detent system before they switched to the current rubber ones. Basically a screw holds a wire with a curve at the end which acts as the detent.

They actually work great and look smoother than cocker detents

I don't know why everyone stopped using wire detents.

They only really work on flat sided bodies...so when any company wants to mill the body, they had to lose that detent.

I wish more guns used them. My friends S5 still has the original wire detent and it hasn't worn down even after hundreds of cases.

It is a good question - if you don't get something - always post up. I love wire nubbings - but have to admit - the rubber nubbin system on the Series 6 and up is too elegant.
