| Noob to Autocockers, need hopper advice Hello Like many, I got a cheap Trilogy autococker recently. I understand the idea that these motorized hoppers are good if you're unloading paint quickly. At what point to do you actually need one though? I don't know how to walk the trigger (its a 1.5 finger trigger anyway), and as a pump player, laying down 200 rounds in 10 secs seems like a bit of a waste. I wouldn't mind around 8 bps for fun, though. One thing I was concerned about is the noise of these motorized hoppers. Seems like it might kill the stealthy woodsball approach. Thanks

| if you're concerned about the noise factor, a newer Revvy or Empire Reloader (not the reloader b, the one that looks like a revvy) are both good. just about any of the Apache line of hoppers are good as well, the ones you want to avoid are things like the VL Quantum, where it's constantly 'on'. I personally have used a Halo B and an Eggolution II and they are both quiet hoppers.

| I don't use cockers, but I have a similar low bps semi approach. 8 bps is probably high enough that a gravity hopper will occasionally jam, leading to missed balls or worse yet, chops. An agitated loader like a revvy will be plenty to overcome that, though. They have eyes, so they'll only run when you fire, so not much noise to give you away. I use an empire reloader, myself, which is basically a sound activated revvy. Either choice should work well, but in either case, try to track down pre-brass eagle revvy shells. Newer revvy shells and reloader shells are brittle, the old ones are indestructible. Hope this helps!

| Thanks for the tips. I think I'll just get a Revolution with an x-board. I thought maybe these things just stay on all the time, but looking at their website, I guess there's an eye so it must mean it kicks on when the tube is empty. I thought agitated loaders under 50 bucks were on constantly and that would drive me nuts... I was being generous about 8, I think occasional 5 bps would make me happy enough

| Most of the motorized hoppers only turn on at certain "events". For the revvie, it is when the sensor does not see any paint in the feed. Other hoppers go by detecting sound, or vibration. Some may hook into the gun directly, and turn on whenever the trigger is pulled. Some are sophisticated and measure that amount of tension on the ball stack. All this so they only have to run the absolute minimum to keep paintballs from jamming. Most can feed at least 10bps. However, even if you only fire 3bps, a motorized hopper is a good idea, since you never know when a non-motorized hopper is jammed. You can just imagine that situation where you charge up to a bunker, jump in, and FIRE.... but no paint comes out because the hopper was jammed. That is the best benefit of a motorized hopper: Paint will always be in the elbow. nick

| Exactly, also with an Autococker, there isn't a great deal of recoil to shake the hopper around. Really, all things considered, an aggitating hopper is just so cheap anymore that the benefit of not having to shake the gun around all the time is worth it. I use a 12v Revvy on most of my DF pumps. It is just handy.

| There is also a hopper on Ebay that is designed to feed 11 or 12 BPS without batteries. I lost the link, though. |

| MCB Member | Thats a load of diarrhea. It works o.k. but so do VL200's Get a Reloader 2 from empire (not a reloader B) best out of the box agitation loader there is. Better is a reloader kit in a revvy with JMJ impellers.

| Archon is the name of that one... I've got one that I got free, and it's ok... Jams less than a VL200, and the balls don't tend to rattle as much when you're low on paint, but it's the difference between 2 jams in 200 and 6 jams in 200. Ricochet AK is my vote, for you. I use an Apache I got cheap, and it just looks mean. The AK is slower, smaller, lighter, and cheaper. |
