| Pistols I've wanted a pistol for a while, but I'm not sure what I should get... I've had a Splatmaster and a PGP for a while now, and I really enjoyed playing with them while they still worked. The Splatmaster is leaking, and never really was anything more than a fun-gun, if you know what I mean. The PGP had it's issues from the start. Roll outs, inconsistency, velocity spikes, and now also leaks. I should really fix it, but I never got to it. Besides, I don't think I have the skills to do the valve tuning it needs, or the other things it needs for it to perform how I want it. So, all in all, I'm looking for something new. I want something compact, and high performing. Preferably all shots good until the last shot, if you know what I mean. (So not like the PGP, first shots at 280 and slowly down to <100. That just annoys me.) I care about consistency more than efficiency, I prefer 20 good shots over 30 sloppy ones. I am also not sure whether I want a semi or a pump. I've shot some blowback pistols like the Zeus and PTX, but they just seem flimsy and not very well built. I've also shot the Tac 8, but I really didn't like that. The trigger just didn't feel right, and the grip was too big. My hand start hurting after half an hour with it. Also, the whole mag system was just a bit too much to fiddle around with. On the other hand, I like the rate of fire semis have over a pump, though you're still very limited by the ball capacity... The PGP did feel great in my hands and it was all quite natural, though I was slightly turned off by the lacking performance it had. The pump was stiff, it was inconsistent and changing a 12g was a pain. I've also shot a Phantom pistol, but it didn't feel quite right. Rocking forward felt awkward in pistol config, and it was actually too light to feel right and aim well. It performed very well though, with the dropout changer in the back I got about 40 good shots of it! So, I think what I really want is a pistol with the feel of a PGP, but performance of a Phantom... Now, I could just get a palmerized PGP, was it not for some stupid gun law that forbids importing most older type (Pre 1995) markers. So importing a PGP from America isn't an option. Neither is a strokerized PGP, since that'd still have "PGP" stamped on the side. I've also been looking at Sydarms, but they're quite rare and expensive. Another option would be to make one myself, but again, I'm not sure if I have the skills to do this, nor do I know if it'd perform any good. I'm also not sure if I like Mag triggers alot. I've shot some a couple of times and it felt kinda awkward, but I haven't really played with one long enough to get used to it. So... does anyone have a suggestion?

| Welcome aboard! You will get a lot of suggestions from people with more pistol experience than I, but I would suggest that a Tiberius 8 is about my favorite paintball pistol for normal use. Stock class, it is not, but it is still hella fun to unload a clip on one of your buddies. Welcome and enjoy. D |

| You want a Palmers Squall. At the core, it's similar to a Strokerized PGP, but much more refined. You can get between 20-40 good shots out of one depending on the weather and quality of the 12-gram, is dead accurate and drop-dead sexy. |

| I'd have to agree with MP above. You've pretty much tested everything else but the Squall, which is really just a shorter version of a Typhoon. I love mine and if you're serious about running pistol, that's the one to consider. It's not cheap, but it's definitely worth it. You also might want to consider getting a PPS Pug built. Kinda like a PGP but better.

| Used? Not gonna find one under $600 (which is a really, really awesome deal). They tend not to come around that often and when they do, they usually go pretty quickly. My advice to you is to save your money so that when one *might* come up for grabs, you can grab it up.

| I'd highly recommend the Ariakon Overlord. $189.00 gets the gun, 3 easy change 10 round magazines, and a holster. I got mine much cheaper slightly used on Ebay. I get exactly 20 shots from my pistol, with not much drop off. I shoot around 270 and it is good on accuracy and range. Magazine changes are fast. I love mine!

| Based on the markers you've already tried a Squall seems your most likely candidate. Though a Sydarm could be modified to perform better by going with a vertical 12gram changer ala phantom off of the triggerguard. The Sydarm is easier to load paint into, IMO and with a VSC type changer you would avoid any liquid. Rob

| I'm not sure if you've tried it or not, but the Ariakon ACP 2.0 gave me good results when I used one. I've got a friend who owns one, and I ran around with it for the day. I liked it much better than the Tac8. Put good paint in it, and it'll shoot straight. About 230 new for the package deal, but you can certainly find it cheaper. |
