Cheap to buy, perform decently, reliable, more upgrades and mods available for them then any other makers and if somehow you managed to break something they are very easy to work on and parts are commonly available. And for more advanced players they can be configured any which way you like to suit your needs. |

I have Guns on my wall that I payed close to $1000 for, when I go to a scenario game where I will be playing for hours on end with no breaks to maintain my gear....I reach for my Tippman A5. I tried the Flatline barrel and didnt care for it, some people swear by it, its one of those things that comes down to what you are comfortable with and your playing style. As a side note, future questions of this type would be better posted in the "New to the Sport" section of this forum. Here is a link Click here Again, Welcome to the sport and welcome to MCB Goat |

They are very reliable and don't require much maintenance to work well. My friend still plays with a Pro-lite he bought in 1995, and its still going strong. His brother has mine that I bought a few months before that, and its still a reliable loaner. The Model 98 and Pro-Carbine are the most basic and simplest, and you can find them at reasonable prices. The A-5 is also nice, but requires a bit more know-how to tinker with. All of them work great out of the box and shouldn't require any tinkering to begin with. Good luck with whatever you decide, and remember that you should be prepared to buy a quality mask with whatever gun you buy. The best gun in the world is no use if you can't see because your goggles fogged. SSniper13 |

And i'm like you in the sense that while I own many more markers that are "better" then my A-5 I still use it very often. |

| MCB Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Texas | My first marker was a Pro/Carbine. I tricked the heck out of that thing, but recently stripped it down to as close to stock as I could get it (I hacked the guard to put on a double trigger...no going back there). My pro/carbine is actually quite light, easy to maintain (the valve will never need servicing), and cannot chop paint. The only thing that needs to be replaced once every couple of years is the ball detent. With a Bigshot barrel, it is up there with the most accurate markers I have ever shot. |
