First Time Shipping

Hey, a guy offered to buy my UMP shroud on my A-5, but I've never sold any paintball gear online and had to ship it. It's shipping within Canada so it should be pretty simple, but I don't know where to start.

If it's within Canada, just find a box, put the item inside wrapped in newsprint or some other padding. Seal with clear packing tape. His address goes in the middle of the box, yours goes top left. Go to the post office, they weigh and measure the box and charge you accordingly. Obviously the smaller and lighter the less you pay.

Get your shipping quote from the Canada Post website before agreeing on price. It's about $9 shipping local up to $16 shipping coast to coast. You don't want to end up losing money on the deal.

If you don't have any bubble wrap or anything, you can use clean old/unwanted t-shirts. Wrap a shirt around the item, secure with some masking tape and you're good to put it in a box.

one tip to know is make sure you package it well. don't throw it in a box and leave it half empty where the item will flop around inside the box. use plenty of packing materials-foam peanuts, newspaper, whatever...-and make sure it is packed tight. when done right, you should be able to shake the piss out of the package and not hear or feel the item move inside the box. that may sound a bit overkill but it's not. the shipping carriers don't give a **** about what is inside your box. they'll drop it, kick it, throw **** on top of it... they don't care.

i've had guns delivered with the barrel sticking out the side of the box because of poor packaging.

Good info c6quad, I had some parts fall out of a box because the item punched through it. Very upsetting.

Take care of your buyer and pack it right!

Me too. The guy sent me an ion, in pieces, in a priority mail envelope. Barrel sticking out the side.

Make sure you get payment first before shipping. I would send it some sort of method that i could prove it was delivered to cover your side.

I still remember the PGP I got that was just stuck in a plastic shopping bag with 3 or 4 other shopping bags loosely floating around the box for "padding". Thankfully, it survived.
