Old 7oz bottles

Hihi experts!

I am prepping my 20 year old gear for some paintball action and hoping that Co2 bottles from 88 (as in 1988) are still usable. I have a fill station but wondering if there are issues with using ancient bottles.

Thanks

I may be wrong but I think they fall under the 2 inch or under rule. That means that they are still fill-able. (As long as their in good physical condistion)

Welcome back too paintball!

They are probably still usuable, but if they were CAM tanks I would pass on using them.

The 2" hydro rule only applies to aluminum tanks, so if they're they old cromoly steel tanks they're toast.

They are the black aluminum alloy type. I don't see any CAM reference on them or know what the CAM type is. I do recall there were a number of plain silver bottles back in the day. Would there be a benefit to getting a new bottle? Do the new tanks use Co2 or did you all switch to using laughing gas while I was away?

Thanks

If they are the standard aluminum "DOT-E" 7oz tanks in good condition, they should still be useable.

Here is a thread discussing the DOT exemptions and the 2 inch rule: 2 inch diameter rule.

Cam tanks have a burst disk on the bottom and use
Schrader valves.

Every 20oz tank I've ever seen has a 5 year hydro cycle. The date of the last hydrotest will be stamped somewhere on the tank, usually around the shoulder near the top.
