| nelson fanboy | Diablo pump help hey gang, i have this diablo pump.....i tried firing it, didnt work that great, so i figure spring issues, right? well...to my horror, the powertube didnt need much pullng to take it out of the retaining nut, even though it should not be able to do such, since its threaded into a cupseal....apparently there is this kink problem with the hammer of it..i am not sure if this is the original hammer, nor am i sure if the bolt is even original to it, but it seems that there is an interference with the raised ring on the powertube and the rear counterbore of the hammer... ok pics of my pump's internals the assembly all linked together, showing the rather extreme kink ![]() this is the area where it interferes if i link it before i put it back in ![]() notice how the ring on the powertube is not concentric? ![]() bolt and striker on power tube, not connected ![]() bolt with the brass velocity adjuster ![]() marker itself, a Diablo pump ![]() also, note how theres teflon tape on the threaded part? some of that is actually white delrin....the damned thing actually pulled the powertube thru the retaining nut and stripped the delrin cupseal(Spyder type) it is now a bit too loose to go into any cupseal, including the stock one...my hunch is that this is what is causing the pump to have odd odd firing reports and how it performed today with sometimes lack of velocity, or excessive velocity..no leaks though. |

| I will tear one of mine down and look, but here is what I THINK is wrong in order of seriousness. 1. My cupseals are metal. At a minimum yours appears to be stripped out. I believe you will need one of them. This is what can cause velocity fluctuation. 2. Your valve spring is non-standard. Might want to order a new spring set. 3. I will check on the kinking problem and compare it to ming. It might not be a problem, it might be normal. Things that could cause it to be excessive? A. Someone bored out the hammer or you might be missing a washer. B. Wrong powertube. C. Wrong hammer (unlikely, all three of mine are brass as well). Here is a link to my album that has some pictures of a disassembled Diablo Deluxe. The trigger frame is polished, don't let that fool you. skx762/Nelson Parts - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Last edited by skx762; 04-23-2007 at 08:25 AM. |

| nelson fanboy | might be the powertube, since i swapped the blackhawk powertube and it now works flawlessly....any idea if its same as lapco's size 6 powertube?? the cupseal on it was a spyder replacement as the original brass with delrin cupseal was also stripped out. |

| I'M clueless on the Lapco pieces fitting. I always go to Bacci to get my small pieces and use stock parts when I can. I have bought my spring kits from Wevo's so far. Good luck, the Diablo's are really good markers, very underated. |

| I took mine apart and it is definately not kinked as much as yours was when assembled in the cocked position. There must be different diameters of powertubes. Bacci might be a little slow in answering, he's a college student. He's never let me down though. "B" might know the Lapco powertube answer as well. He's a very good Nelson source of info as well. NOG or Nelson Owners Group, just starting up. Nog |

| nelson fanboy | Front portion is .250 diameter, length of front portion, 2.514 inches, raised ring is .443 dia, and .118 width, with .750 nominal length of the portion behind the ring, before threading starts. Thread size is 6-32 for sure, at a length of .322 inches, overall length is 3.704, I will PM both Bacci and B about it and see if they can answer it |
